The Lexus Sport Concept first appeared at Monterey Car Week in August 2025. Later, Lexus unveiled its interior at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. The concept hints at a future high-performance model and many believe it previews the spiritual successor to the iconic Lexus LFA.

Exterior Design: Classic Shape, Modern Details
The Sport Concept carries a low, wide, two-door coupe profile. It has a long hood and a cabin pushed far back, giving it a traditional grand-tourer look.
Its design mixes familiar cues from the LFA and the current LC. Lexus also adds new, progressive styling elements. The result feels modern but still recognizably Lexus.
The front features stacked horizontal LED headlights. Lexus moves away from the heavy “Spindle Grille” theme and uses cleaner, functional air intakes instead. At the rear, a full-width lightbar and an active spoiler dominate the design. A third brake light placed in the center echoes the LFA’s triple-exhaust layout.
Aerodynamics play a major role. The front splitter, side intakes, and large rear diffuser work together to push the car’s performance image.

Cockpit: Driver-Focused and Futuristic
Inside, the Sport Concept takes a bold approach. The cabin sits low and tight, creating a focused driving position. A raised divider separates the driver and passenger areas, giving the cockpit a cocoon-like feel.
Lexus uses a two-tone layout to highlight this separation. The driver’s side uses a bright white fabric, while the passenger area is finished in black. This contrast makes the driver zone stand out visually.
A yoke-style steering wheel serves as the main control point. It comes with several physical switches, including a possible high-performance F-mode button. In front of the driver, a curved digital cluster displays three screens. These screens show key information such as speed, gears, and even powertrain data like battery levels.

Powertrain Puzzles: Hybrid or Electric?
The biggest mystery around the Sport Concept is its powertrain. Lexus has not confirmed whether it aims for a hybrid setup or a full-electric system.
Many reports suggest that the production version, possibly called the LFR, may use a twin-turbo V8 paired with hybrid assistance. Some estimates place total output near 900 horsepower. This setup may share elements with an upcoming Toyota GR GT model.
Other clues point toward an electric direction. The digital display shows battery percentage and “Power” and “Charge” indicators. The concept also builds on ideas from the 2021 Electrified Sport Concept. Lexus has even spoken publicly about EVs with a simulated manual transmission.
Today’s consensus is simple: Lexus wants a flagship that delivers high performance, with or without an engine. The Sport Concept shows that the brand is serious about pushing electrification, hybrid technology, and next-generation sports-car design.
