BYD SEAL 6 EV Launched in Malaysia – From RM100,000

Is this the next step in electric mobility?

PETALING JAYA, 26 September 2025 – BYD Sime Motors has officially introduced the all-new BYD SEAL 6 EV in Malaysia, marking the model’s first international debut. The launch signals BYD’s commitment to growing its electric vehicle (EV) presence in the country and further expanding its C-segment sedan offering.

The SEAL 6 EV joins BYD’s growing line-up of electric vehicles in Malaysia and is positioned to offer buyers a sedan that balances efficiency, space, and technology. This come just few weeks after launches of Facelifted BYD Seal.

Platform and Mechanical Setup

The BYD SEAL 6 EV is built on BYD’s latest electric vehicle platform and introduces a suspension setup not commonly seen in this segment. The car uses a Dual Ball-joint MacPherson Strut at the front and a Multi-Link suspension at the rear, a combination aimed at improving ride comfort and stability.

One of the key technical points is that the SEAL 6 EV is a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model, which is relatively uncommon among C-segment sedans. BYD says this layout contributes to a more balanced driving experience and improved handling characteristics.

Power comes from an electric motor producing 160 kW (214 hp) and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds. Power is supplied by BYD’s well-known Blade Battery, here with a capacity of 56.64 kWh, giving the car a claimed NEDC range of up to 485 km.

Starting from RM100,000, is this the next step in electric mobility? ⚡🚗 BYD Sime Motors has just unveiled the all-new BYD SEAL 6 EV in Malaysia — marking its first international debut. This sleek C-segment sedan isn’t just about looks; it’s packed with tech, comfort, and a driving experience that’s surprisingly dynamic for its class. Powered by a 160 kW rear-wheel-drive motor delivering 330 Nm of torque, the SEAL 6 EV hits 0–100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds. Its 56.64 kWh Blade Battery promises a claimed range of up to 485 km, perfect for city commutes or weekend road trips. Step inside, and you’ll find what BYD claims is the largest cabin in its class, with 525 litres of combined storage. Despite its size, the SEAL 6 EV offers a tight 5.5 m turning radius, making urban driving surprisingly easy. BYD’s commitment to accessibility is clear. Early buyers can enjoy an Exclusive Launch Package, including free wall chargers, doorstep charging programs, and rebates up to RM3,000 depending on property type. The car also comes with a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty — peace of mind included. Size, Interior, and Practicality

In terms of packaging, the SEAL 6 EV offers a cabin that BYD claims is the largest in the C-segment sedan class. The boot space is a combined 525 litres, which includes both the rear luggage compartment and additional front storage.

Despite its size, the SEAL 6 EV has a turning radius of just 5.5 meters, which could be useful in urban driving scenarios where maneuverability is important.

Company Statements

During the launch, Sime Motors’ Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Jeffrey Gan, said the model is intended to broaden the appeal of BYD’s line-up:

“The BYD SEAL 6 EV sets yet another benchmark for electric vehicles in Malaysia—combining attractive design, cutting-edge innovation and everyday practicality. As the seventh model in BYD’s line-up, it continues to captivate a wide and diverse range of customers with its compelling range of choices. Every new model we introduce brings us one step closer to a cleaner, smarter future for mobility in Malaysia.”

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, added that accessibility was a key consideration:

“With the new BYD SEAL 6 EV, we want to show that an electric car can be both advanced and accessible at the same time. This model combines a competitive price point with long range and smart technology features, making it an attractive choice for daily driving. I believe that this balance of value and innovation will help more customers take the step into electric mobility more readily.”

Launch Package for Early Customers

BYD Sime Motors is offering an Exclusive Launch Package limited to the first 800 customers.

For landed property owners, the package includes a free wall charger worth RM3,288 and a RM3,000 launch rebate. For high-rise property owners, a Sime Platinum 4+ package by Power Up is offered, which includes a 12-month doorstep charging program (valued at RM5,000) with four complimentary mobile charging sessions, along with a RM1,000 rebate.

Warranty and After-Sales Support

The SEAL 6 EV will be sold with a comprehensive warranty package, which includes:

  • 6-year / 150,000 km Vehicle Warranty
  • 8-year / 160,000 km Drive Unit Warranty
  • 8-year / 160,000 km High-Voltage Blade Battery Warranty

BYD Sime Motors currently operates 37 outlets nationwide, with plans to reach 50 outlets by the end of 2026. Since entering Malaysia, the company has sold over 20,000 vehicles across its model range.

Positioning in the Market

With the SEAL 6 EV, BYD is targeting customers who are considering a switch to electric mobility but still want the space and comfort of a traditional sedan. The combination of a long driving range, rear-wheel-drive layout, and segment-leading cabin space makes it a direct rival to other EV sedans such as the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, though pricing will ultimately determine its competitiveness.

Availability

Bookings for the BYD SEAL 6 EV are now open at BYD Sime Motors showrooms nationwide. More information is available at byd-simemotors.my or via BYD Sime Motors’ official Facebook page.

Summary

The introduction of the BYD SEAL 6 EV gives Malaysian buyers another choice in the growing EV market, particularly for those seeking a sedan with a focus on space, driving comfort, and range. Its arrival as a global debut highlights the importance of Malaysia as a market for BYD and could further accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in the region.

Would you like me to add estimated price speculation (neutral, not marketing — just industry comparison with Tesla Model 3, Ioniq 6, BYD Seal U) so readers get a clearer idea where this model might sit in the market? This is common in automotive reporting and makes articles more searchable.
