Cancellation of the RS6 e-tron
Audi has reportedly pulled the plug on the RS6 e-tron, once expected to be a groundbreaking all-electric version of its iconic performance wagon. According to industry insiders, the automaker no longer sees enough demand to justify the high costs of developing such a model, especially given the current state of the electric vehicle market.
What the RS6 e-tron Was Supposed to Be

The RS6 e-tron was set to ride on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and could have packed over 800 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful wagons on the road. Fans anticipated the same blistering speed and practicality that made the RS6 Avant a legend, only in fully electric form.
Audi’s Focus on Other EV Models

Despite shelving the RS6 e-tron, Audi continues to push forward with the broader A6 e-tron family, including the S6 e-tron. These models are still planned for both Europe and the U.S., ensuring the A6 lineup will remain relevant in the EV era.
Shift Toward Hybrid Performance
Instead of going fully electric with its flagship performance wagon, Audi is now working on a plug-in hybrid version of the next-generation RS6 Avant. This approach suggests the company wants to balance electrification with traditional powertrains, likely keeping the V8 alive in some form.
Lingering Questions and Prototype Sightings

While cancellation reports circulate, RS6 e-tron prototypes have been spotted testing, even around the Nürburgring. Audi has not issued an official confirmation, leaving enthusiasts to wonder whether the project is completely dead or if the test mules are serving another purpose.
