Tesla has updated the Model 3 lineup in Malaysia with new hardware, a refreshed look, revised prices, and a new variant. These changes strengthen Tesla’s presence in the local EV market and aim to capture more buyers as electric mobility gains traction.
Hardware and Design Changes

The latest Model 3 now includes a front-facing camera that works with the vision-based Autopilot system. In total, the car uses eight cameras to improve visibility and assist with parking. Tesla has also brought back a traditional turn signal stalk, making controls more familiar and convenient for drivers.
In terms of styling, the Model 3 now carries matte-black Tesla badges at the front and rear. This detail gives the sedan a more understated and modern appearance.
New Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Variant
For the first time in Malaysia, Tesla offers the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. This version focuses on range efficiency and comes with a WLTP rating of 750 km per charge. That is around 9% more than the Long Range AWD model.
Performance remains competitive. The car accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 201 km/h. Using Supercharging at 250 kW, drivers can add about 311 km of range in 15 minutes, depending on driving conditions. The variant starts from RM185,000.
Updated Pricing Across the Lineup
Tesla Malaysia has also adjusted prices across its lineup. The company reduced some variants by up to 6%. The latest figures are:
- Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive: RM169,000
- Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive: RM185,000 (new variant)
- Model 3 Long Range All-Wheel Drive: RM199,000
- Model 3 Performance: RM229,000
These adjustments make the Model 3 more competitive within Malaysia’s premium EV segment.
Charging Infrastructure
To support adoption, Tesla continues to expand its charging network. At present, Malaysia has:
- 15 Supercharging stations with 68 chargers.
- 16 Destination Charging stations with 73 chargers.
By the end of 2025, new sites will open at Pavilion Damansara Heights, Nexus Bangsar South, and The Mall Mid Valley Southkey.
For home use, Tesla offers a Home Charging Program priced from RM1,900 with a one-year warranty. The company says over 8,000 Malaysian owners already use home chargers, making overnight charging more convenient.
Experience Centres and Service Support

Buyers can explore the Model 3 at Tesla’s Experience Centres in Cyberjaya, Pavilion Damansara Heights, and Gurney Plaza, Penang. For after-sales support, Tesla operates service centres in Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor.
Market Context
The timing of this update is notable. Malaysia’s EV market is growing quickly, with both premium and mass-market players entering the space. Tesla’s move to lower prices and introduce a longer-range model reflects its strategy to stay competitive.
While the Model 3 remains positioned above locally produced EVs in price, its long range, rapid charging, and brand reputation help it maintain a distinct position in the market.
