PRO-NET Launches First-Ever DC Charging Hub in Tanjung Malim

A New Milestone for PROTON’s EV Journey
Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of PROTON, has officially launched its first-ever DC Charging Hub at PROTON Tanjung Malim. Located at the administration building, the facility is equipped with two DC chargers and four charging bays, delivering a combined output of 120kW that allows up to four electric vehicles to charge simultaneously. This marks PROTON’s first standalone charging infrastructure, operated directly by PRO-NET rather than through third-party providers. The initiative underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its control over affordability, accessibility, and user experience in the EV charging space.

Inclusive Charging for All EV Owners

The Tanjung Malim hub is open to all EV users, regardless of brand, after securing approval under the ST EVCS License. By ensuring accessibility to all, PRO-NET aims to promote the adoption of electric vehicles nationwide and play an active role in expanding Malaysia’s charging network.

Seamless and Affordable Charging Experience
One of the hub’s standout features is its app-free charging system. Customers can simply scan a QR code, access a web-based interface, and make payments directly without the need for app downloads. Meanwhile, Proton e.MAS and smart owners retain the option of using their respective apps, fully integrated with the system for convenience.

To ensure affordability, the charging rate has been set at RM0.80 per kWh, one of the lowest in Malaysia. To celebrate the launch, all users will enjoy a 50% promotional discount from 1st to 31st October 2025, reducing the fee to just RM0.40 per kWh.

Tanjung Malim as Malaysia’s EV Hub
The launch not only strengthens PRO-NET’s presence but also highlights Tanjung Malim’s pivotal role in Malaysia’s electrification efforts. With PROTON’s upcoming EV production plant, the town will soon assemble Malaysia’s first locally produced electric vehicles. Beyond vehicle manufacturing, the plant is expected to generate jobs, nurture local talent, and contribute to the development of a comprehensive EV ecosystem, positioning Tanjung Malim as the heart of the nation’s electric mobility future.

Commitment to Building Malaysia’s EV Ecosystem

“This charging hub is a significant step forward for us, not just as a facility but as part of our commitment to build a stronger EV ecosystem for Malaysia. By keeping the service affordable and simple to use, we hope to make EV adoption more appealing for everyone. Tanjung Malim is where PRO-NET’s story began, so it is fitting for us to also start this new chapter here,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.
