Debut in Nürburgring Endurance Series
Max Verstappen is set to make his GT3 racing debut this weekend in the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) at the Nordschleife. The four-time Formula 1 world champion will team up with Chris Lulham in an Emil Frey Ferrari 296 for the four-hour race on Saturday. Just two weeks earlier, Verstappen competed in a restricted Porsche Cayman GT4 to obtain the special licence required for GT3 racing on the legendary Green Hell. With that licence secured, he now aims to challenge for overall victory.
Passion Beyond Formula 1

At 27 years old, Verstappen stressed that his ambitions go far beyond Formula 1. He described GT3 racing as something he has always been eager to experience, particularly at the Nordschleife, a track he calls uniquely challenging due to its long and historic layout. Verstappen also revealed his long-term goal of contesting the famed 24-hour race at the circuit.
Partnering with Chris Lulham
Joining Verstappen will be 22-year-old Chris Lulham, who is also making his GT competition debut this season. Lulham, who started his career in sim racing, now competes in the GT World Challenge with Verstappen.com Racing. Their pairing marks an exciting new chapter for both drivers as they test their skills on one of the world’s most demanding racetracks.
Testing Success with Ferrari 296

This will not be Verstappen’s first experience behind the wheel of a GT3 car at Nürburgring. Earlier this year, he tested the Ferrari 296 at the German track and reportedly set a lap record during that session, showcasing his adaptability and speed in GT machinery.
Future Racing Plans
It remains uncertain whether this appearance will be Verstappen’s last at the Nordschleife in 2025. The final NLS round on October 11 is still a possibility, as it does not clash with the Formula 1 calendar, leaving the door open for a return later this season. Motorsport fans will be able to follow the race live on Motorsport.tv.
