New World’s Fastest Production Car
The Yangwang U9 Xtreme has set a new benchmark by reaching an astonishing top speed of 308.4 mph at the ATP Papenburg high-speed oval in Germany. This achievement makes it the world’s fastest ever production car, dethroning the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ which hit 304.8 mph in 2019, and surpassing electric rivals like the Aspark Owl and Rimac Nevera.
The Record Run

The car was piloted by German racer Marc Basseng, who had previously driven the standard U9 model to 233 mph. With his experience behind the wheel, the U9 Xtreme pushed boundaries and shattered expectations.
Extreme Power Output

The U9 Xtreme produces an incredible 2,978 bhp, more than double the standard model. Power is delivered through four electric motors supported by a cutting-edge 1,200-volt high-voltage platform, an upgrade from the older 800V system, ensuring faster energy delivery to the motors.
Advanced Motor and Battery Technology
Each motor is built using ultra-thin super-silicon steel at just 0.1 mm, capable of spinning up to 30,000 rpm. The new battery system uses BYD’s Blade Battery cells, boasting 170% higher energy density, discharge rates up to 30C (ten times that of regular EVs), and 67% less heat generation, ensuring sustained performance even under extreme loads.
Design and Engineering Tweaks

The U9 Xtreme has been modified for maximum speed and control. Wheels are reduced to 20 inches, while front tyres are widened from 275mm to 325mm to match the rears. These changes, along with a slightly wider track, provide better stability. Despite upgrades, it weighs just 2,480 kg, only 5 kg more than the standard version.
Exclusivity and Price
Only 30 units of the U9 Xtreme will be produced worldwide, making it a rare collector’s item. While the standard U9 costs around £200,000, the Xtreme’s price is expected to be considerably higher, reflecting its record-breaking capabilities and limited availability.
