Benjamin Nagel on the New BMW M 1000 RR

September 18, 2025, KUALA LUMPUR – BMW Motorrad Malaysia has officially unveiled its latest motorsport masterpiece, the New BMW M 1000 RR Competition. This road-legal superbike, born on the racetrack and built for the road, embodies unrivalled precision, aerodynamic supremacy, and unfiltered power, engineered to deliver dominance on both road and racetrack.

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, shared his enthusiasm for the launch, stating, “Since the year began, BMW Motorrad Malaysia has been in full throttle, making 2025 a truly exhilarating time for motorcycle enthusiasts across the country. From Sports and Adventure machines to Tour and Heritage bikes, we have worked to introduce a diverse range of models that ignite the passion of every kind of rider. Today, with the arrival of the New BMW M 1000 RR Competition, we take that thrill to an entirely new level, bringing motorsport excellence and uncompromising engineering straight to Malaysian roads and racetracks.”

He added, “The New BMW M 1000 RR Competition is a true statement of intent, representing the pinnacle of BMW Motorrad’s engineering, racing heritage, and bold vision for the future. For riders in Malaysia seeking the ultimate in power, agility, and presence, this model is the definitive answer to the ethos of ‘Make Life A Ride’.”

Pure Track-bred Motorsport DNA on Two Wheels

The new M icon is a statement born on the racetrack, honed in wind tunnels, and unleashed for both street and circuit. It sets a new benchmark with its newly sculpted front fairing and revised windscreen, which enhance aerodynamic efficiency and sharpen its race-inspired silhouette. The updated carbon fibre M Winglets 3.0 generate up to 30 kg of downforce at 300 km/h, delivering greater cornering stability and reducing front wheel lift without compromising its top speed of 314 km/h. For a more race-focused setup, the M Aero Wheel Covers have been removed, while key body components are now made from high-strength plastic, offering reduced weight with increased durability.

Unrivalled Performance and Control

At the core of the New BMW M 1000 RR Competition lies a powerful 999cc inline four-cylinder engine, now producing 160 kW (218 hp) at 14,500 rpm—an increase of 6 hp from its predecessor—paired with 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. The engine architecture has been precisely refined with a reworked cylinder head, optimised ports, and a reshaped combustion chamber to enhance airflow and combustion efficiency. Lightweight, full-shaft titanium valves and a larger 52 mm throttle valve further improve responsiveness. A revised full-titanium exhaust system reduces back pressure and weight, allowing the bike to maintain its peak engine speed while offering sharper throttle response and meeting stringent Euro 5+ emissions standards.

The renowned Flex Frame has been re-engineered for improved chassis dynamics, featuring increased stiffness in the steering head area and a relocated left-side engine mount. Complementing this is the M short-stroke throttle, now with a reduced 58-degree rotation angle for quicker and more controlled input, especially beneficial in competitive riding.

Advanced Electronics and Riding Modes

Riders can tailor the bike’s performance through a comprehensive suite of riding modes, with Riding Modes Pro equipped as standard. This includes base modes—Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race—each with its own Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) profile. Three highly customisable Race Pro modes allow fine-tuning of throttle response, engine braking, traction control, and wheelie control to suit personal preferences or track conditions.

For track-focused riders, the Dynamic Traction Control now features newly integrated Slide Control, enabled by steering angle sensor technology, which allows precise regulation of rear-wheel slip during acceleration drifts. The BMW Race ABS Pro incorporates Brake Slide Assist, assisting in controlled rear-wheel drifts under braking. The inclusion of the ABS Pro “Slick” mode ensures full compatibility with slick tyres for race use.

Exclusive M Competition Package

The New BMW M 1000 RR Competition is offered in a single, striking variant finished in Blackstorm metallic with iconic M accents. The extensive M Competition Package includes the M Carbon Package, featuring high-grade carbon components such as front and rear wheel covers, a pinion cover with integrated chain guard, tank cover, airbox cover, and a carbon passenger seat cover. The M Billet Pack adds CNC-milled aluminium parts, including brake and clutch levers, new rider footrests, and a brake lever guard.

Further premium features include the M Endurance Chain for reduced maintenance, M Carbon Wheels for enhanced agility and weight savings, and the M GPS-Laptrigger with an activation code for precise lap timing. The package is completed with an anodised rear wheel swingarm, a tinted windscreen, and a black fuel tank, underscoring the bike’s racing ambition.

Ownership and Financial Services

With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the New BMW M 1000 RR Competition starts from RM 4,178.00 per month, based on Straight Line Financing estimates of a 90% loan on a 7-year tenure. Owners can also enjoy additional benefits with industry-leading Premium Engine Oil Inclusive, Service Inclusive, and Warranty Extension programmes.

The retail price on the road, which includes BMW Motorrad Malaysia’s All-New 3-Year Warranty and 3-Year Roadside Assistance programmes without insurance, is RM 299,500.00.
