Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has announced the winners of its first-ever Shutter Stories photography contest, a campaign created to connect with Malaysians through the lens of passion, adventure, and creativity. In collaboration with Fujifilm Malaysia, the contest called on participants to explore the emotional and vibrant spirit of Malaysia under five themes: VW Love, VW Adventure, VW People, VW Motion, and VW Life & Colours.
Honouring the Grand Prize Winner

Hasanul Asyraf bin Hanafi, aged 35, emerged as the grand prize winner, walking away with a Fujifilm camera and lens set worth RM7,000. Beyond the prize, Hasanul also secured a year-long contract as a photographer for VPCM and a mentorship under expert photographer Aaron Lee. This rare opportunity not only provides exposure but aims to sharpen his skills, particularly within the automotive photography niche.
Recognising Outstanding Talent

The first runner-up, Kelvin Ooi, 23, won the latest Fujifilm instax Mini 99 camera and film set worth RM1,200.

Meanwhile, second runner-up Neeventhaa Perabagaran, a 19-year-old Multimedia University student, received a Fujifilm instax Pal worth RM588 and exclusive Volkswagen merchandise. Each submission in the contest was crafted around five themes, with participants required to include at least two images featuring a Volkswagen model.
Connecting People Through Photography
According to Charles Lim, Brand Manager of VPCM, the contest was about more than photography—it was about capturing the essence of connection, adventure, and joy that defines the Volkswagen brand. “Volkswagen is more than just cars—it’s about character, relationships, and celebrating the joy of the journey,” he said. “The contest gave us a glimpse of Malaysia through the eyes of talented individuals, and we loved every frame.”
A Partnership Built on Creativity
Thomas Kwan, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager at Fujifilm Malaysia, shared similar enthusiasm. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Volkswagen Malaysia on this inspiring initiative. At Fujifilm, we believe in the power of photography to tell compelling stories, and the participants did just that—expressing Volkswagen’s identity with creativity and passion,” he said.
The Spirit of the Competition

Over 30 participants from across the country submitted photo collections reflecting Malaysia’s rich culture, colour, and energy. From intimate portraits to high-octane adventure shots, the submissions demonstrated not only technical skill but also an emotional connection to the brand.

The Shutter Stories contest serves as a tribute to Volkswagen and Fujifilm’s shared passion for innovation, artistry, and storytelling.
