The undisputed “King of the Road” is gearing up for a major transformation. Perodua has officially teased the highly anticipated next-generation Myvi, codenamed D01D, during the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, signaling a radical shift from its current iteration.
A Complete Design Overhaul
During the automotive expo, an official teaser gave the public a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming hatchback. The preview showcased a striking new front fascia and distinctive Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that bear a strong resemblance to the Perodua QV-E concept model, confirming a completely new design language that departs heavily from the current third-generation Myvi.
Perodua’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, corroborated the teaser, officially confirming that the new model will feature an entirely brand-new design. Underpinning this new look is widely expected to be the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA-B) platform, which will provide improved structural rigidity and better driving dynamics for the B-segment hatchback.
Stepping into the Hybrid Era
In terms of powertrains, the new D01D Myvi is expected to offer versatile options to suit different driving needs.
For the standard variants, the hatchback is anticipated to carry over the proven and reliable 1.5-liter 2NR-VE naturally aspirated engine found in the current lineup. However, the biggest news is the expected introduction of an electrified variant. Perodua is poised to introduce a hybrid option utilizing the 1.5-liter 2NR-VEX hybrid engine—a parallel hybrid system already utilized in models like the Toyota Yaris Cross. This addition marks a significant step forward in bringing accessible, fuel-efficient electrified mobility to the Malaysian masses.
Launch Timeline
While excitement is building, Perodua has yet to confirm an official launch date for the all-new Myvi. However, based on industry reports and the timing of the KLIMS 2026 teaser, automotive analysts predict the next-generation hatchback will likely make its grand debut either towards the end of this year or early next year.
