BMW 2025 Models Unveiled with New Look and Power

BMW has revealed a tantalizing glimpse at its upcoming 2025 model range—specifically the fourth‑generation X3 (G45) and the second‑generation 2 Series Gran Coupé (F74)—during the MY BMW World teaser event. The show offered glimpses of sharp new design language, electrified powertrains, and cutting‑edge technology, signalling a bold move forward for both lineups.

X3 G45: A Bold Redesign for the Mid‑Size SAV

The latest X3, internally known as the G45, presents a muscular silhouette highlighted by an oversized kidney grille inspired by the iX electric SUV. Its bonnet extends boldly and flows into taut L‑shaped daytime running lights. Subtle design cues—like concealed door handles and the optional “Iconic Glow” illuminated frame—reinforce its premium appeal.

This generation grows in all dimensions: stretching about 34 mm longer and 29 mm wider than its predecessor, while the roofline drops roughly 25 mm. As a result, the interior now offers more cargo volume and a deeper third row . Inside, the cabin is dominated by BMW’s new curved display setup—a 12.3‑inch driver display paired with a 14.9‑inch infotainment touchscreen—powered by the BMW Operating System 9 and featuring the streamlined QuickSelect interface.

Underneath, BMW diversifies the drivetrain with mild‑hybrid petrol (20 xDrive, 20 d) and plug‑in hybrid (30 e xDrive) options, while the sporty M50 xDrive uses a 3.0‑litre inline‑six mild‑hybrid, delivering around 381 PS and a 0–100 km/h time in about 4.6 seconds. Adaptive suspension, red‑caliper brakes and optional interior packages hint at BMW’s continued focus on performance.

2 Series Gran Coupé F74: Sleeker, Smarter, and Electrified

The next‑generation 2 Series Gran Coupé, code‑named F74, introduces a refined and more athletic silhouette compared to its F44 predecessor. Its upright, diagonally‑slatted grille is flanked by slimmer headlights and vertical air curtains, creating a cohesive visual link with BMW’s larger models

Built on the front‑wheel‑drive UKL2 platform, the F74 retains the same 2,670 mm wheelbase yet grows slightly in length and height. Its body has been stiffened for better handling, and interior rigidity bolstered to enhance driving dynamics. Cabin upgrades include a fully leather‑free environment furnished with Veganza or Alcantara trim, a curved display cluster, and sleek metallic‑trimmed accents.

On the drivetrain front, BMW offers a range of mild‑hybrid petrol and diesel options, including a 1.5‑litre three‑cylinder base (156 PS), diesels (218d/220d), and the flagship M235 xDrive. The M235 boasts a 2.0‑litre turbo engine producing 300 PS and 400 Nm, hitting 100 km/h in about 4.9 seconds. It’s equipped with an M‑Sport suspension, steering, and an optional M‑Tech pack.

BMW has upgraded driver assistance features with standard Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant, along with available advanced lane‑control and remote‑controlled parking options via smartphone. Production is slated for Leipzig, targeting a March 2025 European launch.

The Road Ahead

BMW’s latest teasers at MY BMW World mark a decisive step forward for two of its core models. The X3 G45 signals a sharper, bolder design with diverse electrified powertrains, while the 2 Series Gran Coupé F74 brings sophistication, performance, and digital refinement to the compact sedan segment. Both models are set to hit markets in early 2025 and will likely raise the bar for luxury, technology, and driving dynamics in their respective classes.
