Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the Malaysian government will reinstate the monthly base quota for subsidised RON95 petrol under the BUDI MADANI (BUDI95) scheme from 200 litres to 300 litres per month, effective 1 September 2026. Announced during the 2026 National Day Prime Address (Majlis Amanat Perdana Hari Kebangsaan 2026) as part of six key initiatives, the adjustment is aimed at easing the impact of living costs and fuel price fluctuations on domestic road users.
- Monthly subsidised RON95 petrol quota under BUDI95 reinstated from 200 litres to 300 litres per month starting 1 September 2026, benefiting over 16 million users.
- BUDI Madani Diesel monthly allocation ceiling for approved pick-up truck and jeep owners increased from 300 litres to 400 litres, benefiting more than 500,000 eligible vehicle owners.
- Subsidised retail fuel pricing remains unchanged at RM1.99 per litre for BUDI95 and RM2.10 per litre for BUDI Diesel, with volume exceeding monthly allocations charged at prevailing unsubsidised market rates.
The revision represents a restoration of the original allocation parameter rather than an expansion, as the BUDI95 programme initially launched with a 300-litre monthly baseline before being lowered to 200 litres on 1 April 2026 as a temporary subsidy optimisation measure.Because individual BUDI Madani Diesel allocations share the common base framework with BUDI95, base diesel allowances also adjust to 300 litres.Additionally, eligible owners of utility pick-up trucks and jeeps who qualify for the supplementary 100-litre work-use top-up will see their maximum monthly ceiling expand from 300 litres to 400 litres.

Subsidised fuel rates remain unchanged at the pump for verified Malaysian citizens possessing a valid MyKad and driving licence.Any fuel dispensed beyond the monthly 300-litre or 400-litre threshold within a single calendar month is automatically charged at the prevailing unsubsidised market rate at the point of sale (currently RM3.82 per litre for RON95 and RM4.72 per litre for Diesel Euro 5 B10/B15).
According to government figures, approximately 16 million BUDI95 recipients and over 500,000 BUDI Diesel users stand to benefit from the adjusted ceilings.Prior consumption analysis conducted between October 2025 and May 2026 showed that less than 1% of registered BUDI95 users consistently exceeded 200 litres of RON95 per month. Commercial transport fleets and public land transit operators remain separately regulated under the fleet card frameworks of the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) and Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS).
