Hyundai has lifted the veil on the much-anticipated Ioniq 6 N, marking the next exhilarating chapter for its high-performance N division. Arriving two years after the debut of the Ioniq 5 N at the 2023 Goodwood Festival, this electric super‑sedan takes everything good about its SUV predecessor and turns it up several notches.
Powertrain and Performance Figures
At its heart lie twin electric motors—226 PS (166 kW) up front and 383 PS (282 kW) at the rear—delivering a combined 609 PS and 740 Nm of torque. But the performance doesn’t stop there: engaging the N Grin Boost (NGB) system on the steering wheel unleashes up to 650 PS and 770 Nm for short bursts. Thanks to its lighter sedan body, the Ioniq 6 N rockets from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, faster than the Ioniq 5 N and nearly matching the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
Enhanced Thermal and Battery Management
Hyundai has upgraded several key components to enhance track durability and throttle consistency. The motors now use superior magnets and feature improved rotor cooling to prevent power drop-off. While the 84 kWh battery remains the same, it gains a new unified management system dubbed N Battery, which integrates race and battery conditioning features for more consistent peak performance. A new “Endurance” mode joins existing Drag and Sprint settings.
Drift, Torque, and Driving Simulation Modes

The Ioniq 6 N expands on its sibling’s drift capabilities, retaining the N Drift Optimiser with added controls for initiation, angle, and spin. N Torque Distribution lets drivers adjust how power is split between the axles. Simulated gear shifts with N e‑Shift now offer quicker virtual shifts and pair with launch, drift, and torque modes. Paddle shifters even function with adaptive cruise control, while lighting, HUD shift cues, and ambient effects heighten the immersion.
Revamped Sound Design and Track Tools
The Active Sound + system now includes a sci-fi inspired “Lightspeed” sound that replaces the “Supersonic” effect. A more advanced sound processor and louder external speakers amplify the vehicle’s presence. Drivers also benefit from N Track Manager, which allows lap timing, ghost-car overlays, and custom circuit mapping, enhancing the digital racing experience.
Chassis and Suspension Tuning
The Ioniq 6 N receives structural and mechanical revisions to optimize cornering and grip. A lowered center of gravity is achieved through repositioned suspension hardpoints and a steeper caster angle that improves steering feel and stability. Reinforced mounts, adaptive dampers, and crossbar stiffeners contribute to a sharper, more planted chassis.
Bold Styling with Aerodynamic Enhancements

Visually, the Ioniq 6 N showcases its aggressive character with a reworked front bumper, larger intakes, and grey “tusk” accents. It features red-striped side skirts, a swan-neck rear wing for improved stability, and widened arches with 20-inch aero-forged wheels and Pirelli P Zero tyres. Despite its racy profile, the drag coefficient increases slightly from 0.21 to 0.27—but it still beats the Ioniq 5 N’s 0.313.
Advanced Braking and Regeneration Systems
Larger friction brakes are complemented by upgraded regenerative braking, now capable of delivering up to 0.6 g of force. A new system allows regen braking during ABS activation, helping extend friction brake life on track. The N Pedal mode introduces trail-braking-like deceleration, with 0.3 g of regen applied on throttle lift.
Interior Revisions and Tech Features

Inside, the Ioniq 6 N gains the facelifted sedan’s revised center console with twin USB-C ports and new physical controls. N-specific upgrades include a round N-logo steering wheel with customizable buttons, bucket seats with illuminated N emblems, and Performance Blue accents. A roof-mounted action camera mount adds a motorsport flair.
Malaysia Availability
Despite Hyundai recently establishing Hyundai Motor Malaysia, there are no current plans to bring either the facelifted Ioniq 6 or this high-performance N version to the Malaysian market.
