JAECOO J7 PHEV Sets Benchmark for SUV Hybrids

Boosting Hybrid Awareness Through PHEV Technology

Kuala Lumpur, 20 June 2025 – OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia is steadily nurturing market confidence in hybrid mobility with the growing interest and acceptance of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) across the country. Believing that PHEV technology helps address range anxiety and boosts consumer confidence, the company continues to push forward its offerings in the new energy segment.

JAECOO J7 PHEV Sees Strong Market Response

Earlier this year, the brand launched the JAECOO J7 PHEV in Malaysia, making its mark in the premium off-road SUV space. This model quickly attracted consumer attention with its advanced hybrid technology, exceptional performance, and competitive pricing and warranty. In just four months, over 800 units have been registered, indicating strong demand and early success in the local market.

According to OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia Vice President Emily Lek, the J7 PHEV is equipped with the proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) that allows a combined range of over 1,300km (NEDC) on a full tank and battery. With an electric-only range of 106km, it suits both urban commutes and long-distance travel, offering efficiency and flexibility without the need to worry about recharging or refuelling frequently.

Educating Early Adopters on Hybrid Technology

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia places high importance on educating consumers about its hybrid technology. Through regular PHEV familiarisation sessions, the company ensures that customers gain the confidence and understanding necessary to fully enjoy the benefits of their hybrid vehicles. The brand has pledged to accompany its users throughout their ownership journey, offering constant support and education.

Speaking at a handover event for 100 early adopters of the J7 PHEV, Emily Lek expressed appreciation for those embracing the shift toward hybrid mobility. “We honour our early adopters and look forward to delivering many more units of the JAECOO J7 PHEV to discerning households looking for a premium SUV that can go the distance,” she said.

Drivers Share Positive Ownership Experiences

Early adopters of the JAECOO J7 PHEV shared enthusiastic feedback. Manivannan Manickam praised the comfort and range of the SUV, noting how suitable it is for family travel without constant refuelling. Singapore-based Ian Chan drove to Kuala Lumpur to attend the event, eager to meet other owners and explore the PHEV community. Andy Wong, another owner, appreciated the learning opportunity at the event and said he specifically waited for the hybrid model to launch in Malaysia.

Advanced Tech, Efficiency, and Safety in One Package

The JAECOO J7 PHEV’s Super Hybrid System combines high efficiency with power, enabling drivers to switch between fuel-saving and high-performance modes with 255kW and 525Nm on tap. It offers a class-leading fuel economy of just 4.77 litres per 100km in a power-depleted state and features a robust 18.3kWh LFP battery, designed to perform under Malaysia’s extreme temperatures and wet conditions.

Safety is also a key highlight, with the J7 PHEV delivering a comprehensive Level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), eight airbags, and systems such as Driver Monitoring, Lane Departure Prevention, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Priced at RM158,800, it represents a strong value proposition for a technologically advanced, safe, and premium SUV.

OMODA | JAECOO’s Vision for the Future

Rooted in the philosophy of “People + Car + Life,” OMODA | JAECOO aspires to integrate automotive innovation with aspirational lifestyles. OMODA caters to the environmentally conscious LOHAS generation with futuristic, fashionable mobility solutions, while JAECOO delivers rugged sophistication for adventurous urbanites. In Malaysia, their combined presence signals a promising shift toward sustainable, high-performance vehicles for a new era of mobility.
