GoCar and drivEV Spark Green Revolution at KL Car-Free Morning
Petaling Jaya, 23 June 2025 — In celebration of World Environment Month, GoCar Mobility and drivEV joined forces to electrify the KL Car-Free Morning held on 22 June 2025. Held under the campaign theme “Living the Green Way,” the event became a beacon of sustainable living and mobility for city dwellers. GoCar, Malaysia’s premier car-sharing platform, used the occasion to commemorate its 10th anniversary, reflecting a decade of pioneering innovation in urban transport.
Pioneering the Future of EV Mobility in Malaysia

The collaboration between GoCar and drivEV, a green mobility arm of Yinson GreenTech, served as a statement of intent: to make electric vehicles not only accessible but a norm in daily Malaysian life. With the KL City Centre as a backdrop, this joint effort presented a compelling vision of cleaner cities and practical electric mobility.
GoCar’s transformation since its inception in 2015—from a small fleet to a national mobility leader—underscored the brand’s growth and its relentless focus on sustainable innovation. The GoEV arm of GoCar, in particular, highlighted popular EV models like the ORA Good Cat and AION Y Plus during the showcase, alongside limited-time promotional incentives aimed at accelerating EV adoption.
Engaging the Community for a Greener Tomorrow
Visitors to the GoCar x drivEV activation zone were treated to an immersive experience of green living. The area featured a diverse lineup of attractions, including an EV showcase, an interactive GoCar App sign-up zone, engaging games like Wheel of Fortune and EV quizzes, and a recycle station that rewarded plastic bottle exchanges with tokens. A Juice Bar added a refreshing touch, while the Experience Wall encouraged photo moments and social sharing, making sustainability approachable and fun.
Promotional Campaign to Drive EV Adoption

To further encourage Malaysians to try out electric driving, GoCar launched a special promotional offer of 50% off (capped at RM80) for all GoCar EV rentals. Using the promo code ‘JOMEVKL,’ customers could book EVs between 22 June and 22 July 2025, with the travel period extending through 30 September 2025. The offer was well received and boosted interest in the platform’s electric vehicle offerings.
GoCar currently provides access to a variety of EVs through its mobile app, including the Great Wall Motor ORA Good Cat, AION Y Plus, Nissan Leaf, and Renault Zoe. Both hourly and daily rental options allow customers to sample the electric lifestyle at their own pace.
A Unified Call for a Sustainable Shift

GoCar CEO Wong Hoe Mun emphasized that the event was more than a public engagement—it was a nationwide push toward cleaner transportation. He said the initiative celebrated the intersection of health, sustainability, and community. As GoCar celebrates its 10-year milestone, the brand remains focused on reshaping mobility with cleaner, smarter choices.
Kelvin Soon, Managing Director of drivEV, echoed the sentiment, stating that the collaboration with GoCar reflects their mutual belief that electric mobility should be straightforward, affordable, and inclusive. He praised the enthusiastic public response, calling it a testament to the country’s readiness for a greener future.
Looking Ahead
Both GoCar and drivEV thanked the participants of KL Car-Free Morning for their support and enthusiasm. The success of the event reaffirmed the companies’ roles in pushing forward Malaysia’s electric and sustainable transportation agenda.
