Proton Holdings Berhad has expanded its C-segment sedan lineup with the introduction of the S70 Lite and S70 Prime, introducing an i-GT 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), with order books officially opening across all authorised dealerships nationwide on 7 September 2026 at an estimated starting price below RM60,000.

Mechanically, the S70 Lite and Prime employ an i-GT 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), configured to provide linear acceleration and low noise levels for urban commuting. Dynamic characteristics remain supported by Proton Ride & Handling suspension calibrations, complemented by three selectable drive modes.
Cabin accommodation leverages the model’s wide-body dimensions to maximize rear shoulder room, supported by a near-flat rear floor designed to comfortably seat three adult passengers abreast. Interior appointments feature a soft-touch dashboard instrument panel and leatherette seat upholstery, paired with enhanced acoustic insulation measures to lower noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels.
In-cabin technology and functional convenience appointments across the new variants comprise:
- Native wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto smartphone connectivity
- Five cabin USB power outlets
- Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold
- Remote engine start system
- One-touch Auto Up/Down power windows with anti-pinch functionality across all four doors
Safety infrastructure is anchored by six SRS airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, and a rear seat reminder alert. Active vehicle monitoring is driven by an onboard Rear Side Radar System that incorporates five dedicated driver assistance features:

- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Door Opening Warning (DOW)
- Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
Proton Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Abdul Rashid Musa noted that the introduction of the Lite and Prime variants widens the reach of the S70 nameplate by targeting buyers seeking interior volume and essential comfort features at an entry-level price point, while retaining core safety and connectivity equipment across the broader vehicle range.
