BYD Unveils e-Bus Platform 3.0 with 1,000-Volt Architecture

World’s First 1,000V System for Buses
BYD has introduced its third-generation e-Bus Platform 3.0, marking the debut of the world’s first mass-produced 1,000-volt system designed specifically for electric buses. The architecture covers the electric drive, charging, power distribution, and even the air-conditioning system, setting a new benchmark in bus electrification.

Advanced Power and Efficiency

Central to the platform is a 1,500-volt silicon carbide power chip and the first 1,000-volt electric drive axle for buses. These components, combined with a seven-in-one thermal management system, lower energy consumption by up to 18%. They also boost range, adding between 50,000 and 80,000 km in cold climates as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius.

Cell-to-Chassis Battery Design
The platform incorporates BYD’s Blade LFP batteries directly into the chassis through cell-to-chassis (CTC) integration. This design strengthens structural rigidity while freeing up interior space. The battery pack, with ten layers of protection, has passed extreme crush tests, reportedly surviving the weight of a 50-tonne truck.

Enhanced Safety Systems

Safety features include the DiSus-A body control system and a high-speed flat-tire stability function that keeps the bus stable at up to 100 km/h in case of a blowout. In addition, the Driver Disability Assistance System 2.0 enables passengers to safely stop the bus if the driver is incapacitated.

First Model: BYD C11 Electric Bus

The C11, an 11-metre bus, will be the first to adopt the new platform. It offers up to 400 km of range under full load with air-conditioning, and comes with five battery options ranging from 184 to 593 kWh, supporting travel distances between 220 and 730 km.

BYD’s Growing Electrification Portfolio
This new e-Bus Platform 3.0 builds on BYD’s earlier “Super e-Platform” for passenger cars unveiled in March. Unlike its predecessor, the bus platform integrates 1,000-volt architecture across all systems, pushing the boundaries of efficiency, performance, and safety in the electric bus sector.
