OMODA | JAECOO Launches First National Skills Challenge

Celebrating Technical Mastery
Kuala Lumpur witnessed a landmark moment on 26 August 2025 as OMODA | JAECOO hosted its first-ever Technical Skills Competition, bringing together over 132 technical specialists from 48 dealerships nationwide. The event was more than just a contest; it was a celebration of skill, dedication, and commitment to customer care. The competition reached its climax when 10 of the finest technicians battled it out in a thrilling finale, each aiming for the prestigious title of National Champion.

Commitment to Customer Excellence
Speaking at the event, OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia Vice President, Emily Lek, emphasized the importance of the initiative in reinforcing the brand’s values. She highlighted that the competition not only nurtures technical expertise but also embodies the company’s dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the ownership journey. She congratulated all participants and expressed pride in seeing Malaysia’s top talent preparing to compete on the global stage at the upcoming World Skills Competition in China.

Crowning the Champions

The highlight of the event was the triumph of Wong Sau Seng from Gagner Auto Sdn Bhd, who emerged as the National Champion. His victory was a testament to both his personal dedication and the support of his team. Wong expressed gratitude to his colleagues and mentors, crediting their encouragement for his success. He will now carry Malaysia’s flag at the OMODA | JAECOO World Skills Competition this October. The runner-up title went to Ng Chen Ton from CarShen Sdn Bhd, while the second runner-up spot was claimed by Syasya Mazdiana Binti Nor Azman from Anggerik Auto Sdn Bhd.

Diversity in the Spotlight

Syasya’s performance stood out as she was the only female finalist, making her third-place finish even more significant. She described her achievement as proof that women can thrive in technical fields traditionally dominated by men. Her words of encouragement resonated strongly, urging women to embrace challenges and believe in their potential to shape the future of the automotive industry.

A Rigorous Test of Skill

The competition was designed to thoroughly assess both knowledge and hands-on ability. Participants underwent a theory assessment, worth 30% of the score, that tested their understanding of product knowledge, diagnostics, and service processes. The remaining 70% came from a practical test, where technicians demonstrated their troubleshooting capabilities, repair quality, and efficiency in real-world conditions.

Judging Standards and Expertise
The panel of judges, comprising members of the Chery Malaysia Technical team and master trainers, ensured fairness and rigor throughout the contest. Key areas of evaluation included accuracy, diagnostic approach, repair precision, and time management. The competition was hosted at D Champion Auto Sdn Bhd in Klang, an authorized OMODA | JAECOO dealership.

Driving Forward with Vision
This inaugural competition reflects OMODA | JAECOO’s strong commitment to developing local talent while enhancing after-sales service standards across Malaysia. It aligns with the brand’s broader vision of blending cutting-edge automotive technology with a lifestyle-driven customer experience. With both OMODA’s youthful, fashion-forward identity and JAECOO’s adventurous off-road spirit, the brand continues to push boundaries and redefine automotive excellence in the Malaysian market.
