Final Petrol-Powered Lotus: 2026 Emira Details Revealed

Lotus has unveiled the updated 2026 Emira range, marking a new chapter for the brand’s last combustion-engine sports car. The entry-level Emira Turbo is priced at approximately $106,900, while the flagship Emira V6 SE starts at around $112,900 for the U.S. market.

Mechanical Enhancements and Transmission Updates

All 2026 Emira models receive an improved cooling system, with redesigned coolant routing for better radiator and transmission cooling. These changes also contribute to weight reduction. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) has been revised to offer faster and smoother gear shifts.

New Exterior Colors and Optional Racing Line Package

Three new paint options have been introduced—Eos Green, Purple Haze Metallic, and Tangerine Orange. The latter is the most premium, priced at around $7,800. The new Racing Line package brings visual flair with hand-painted pinstripes, 20-inch wheels, and special badging, starting from approximately $115,900.

Limited-Run Jim Clark Edition

Paying homage to Lotus legend Jim Clark, this special edition is limited to only 60 units. It comes with Clark Racing Green paint, a yellow central racing stripe, unique badging, a wooden shift knob, and a handcrafted leather basin bag. It is priced around $157,000 and is based on the V6 Emira platform.

Performance and Powertrain Options

The Emira Turbo is powered by a detuned Mercedes-AMG 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine producing 360 hp and reaching 0–60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. The Turbo SE bumps power to 400 hp and achieves 0–60 mph in 4.0 seconds thanks to the refined DCT. The V6 SE variant uses a Toyota-sourced 3.5L supercharged engine with 400 hp and offers a 0–60 time of around 4.2 seconds with a quarter-mile sprint in 12.6 seconds at nearly 110 mph.

Fuel Efficiency and Driving Range

The V6 models are estimated to return 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway when equipped with the automatic transmission, while the manual gets around 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. On a full tank, drivers can expect an estimated range of approximately 300 miles.

Technology and Infotainment Features

Inside, the Emira includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display paired with a 10.3-inch infotainment screen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A seven-speaker system is standard, while a premium 10-speaker KEF audio system is optional.

Safety and Driver Assistance Systems

Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot detection, and traffic sign recognition. Optional packages offer adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high-beams. Keyless entry, USB-A and USB-C ports, and a 12V outlet come standard across the range.

Storage Space and Practicality

The Emira provides 5.3 cubic feet of rear trunk space—more than a Porsche 911’s front trunk but less than the cargo space offered by a Corvette. While not built for luggage-hauling, it balances practicality with the agility expected of a Lotus.

Availability and Order Status

Lotus has opened order books for the 2026 Emira, and while final prices are still being confirmed, early figures suggest it remains competitively positioned within the premium sports car segment. The Emira offers a refreshing alternative to models like the Porsche 911, Corvette, and Maserati GranTurismo with its focused driving dynamics and unmistakable British character.
