JAECOO J8 Rolls In: Premium SUV With Purpose

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has officially launched the JAECOO J8, a premium SUV that embodies luxury, advanced technology, and off-road capability. Introduced exactly one year after the debut of the J7, the new J8 is the brand’s first six-seater flagship SUV and represents the next step in redefining attainable luxury for Malaysian drivers. This launch coincides with a significant milestone for the brand, with over 17,000 vehicles now on Malaysian roads.

Sophisticated Design with Commanding Presence

The JAECOO J8 brings a bold, modern aesthetic. With dimensions measuring 4,820 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, and 1,710 mm high, and a generous 2,820 mm wheelbase, it offers a strong road presence.

A prominent Waterfall front grille and clean silhouette with hidden door handles and dual-tone 20-inch alloy wheels highlight its sleek yet rugged profile. The overall design balances elegance with functionality, optimising aerodynamics and presence.

Engineered for Adventure and Comfort

Beneath the surface, the J8 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 183 kW and 385 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can choose between a front-wheel drive (2WD) or an advanced all-wheel drive (AWD) version, with the AWD variant offering intelligent torque vectoring for greater traction and control on diverse terrains. The 2WD version accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 8.8 seconds, while the AWD completes it in 9.0 seconds. Fuel economy stands at 7.8L/100km for the 2WD and 8.1L/100km for the AWD, both based on WLTP standards.

The J8 also features a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension system that adapts in milliseconds to road conditions, ensuring a smooth and stable drive even off the beaten path. Its powertrain is specially tuned for durability and thermal efficiency, tailored for off-road and high-load conditions.

Interior Experience Inspired by First-Class Travel

The cabin of the JAECOO J8 aims to provide a luxurious and connected experience, whether on the road or off. The AWD model comes with a 2+2+2 seating configuration,

while the 2WD model is a five-seater with more cargo capacity.

With flexible seating arrangements, the boot space can expand from 200 litres to as much as 2,021 litres depending on the variant and seat configuration.

Inside, drivers are greeted with twin 12.3-inch displays and a wide Head-Up Display. Connectivity is seamless with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The AWD model further offers a first-in-class Queen’s front passenger seat with leg support and heated, ventilated, massage, and memory seats across the first two rows.

Additional luxury touches include a microfiber headliner, a 256-colour ambient lighting system, a 50W wireless charger with cooling,

and premium Sony audio systems (12 speakers in 2WD and 14 with headrest speakers in AWD).

Smart Features and Advanced Safety

Safety and convenience are at the forefront of the JAECOO J8. It includes Level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which feature Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver Monitoring System, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Change Assistance, and Fully Automatic Parking (AWD only). Additional technologies include Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Distance Monitoring, Event Data Recorder, and a OneBox brake-by-wire system for precise stopping power.

Convenience is further enhanced with features such as NFC-based keyless entry, a built-in fragrance system, a digital video recorder, and climate-optimised storage compartments.

Built for Malaysia and Beyond

The JAECOO J8 will be locally assembled at the Chery Corporate Malaysia Factory in Shah Alam, reinforcing the brand’s long-term investment in Malaysia’s automotive sector. This move aligns with OMODA | JAECOO’s ethos of accessible luxury while supporting local industry growth.

Pricing for the JAECOO J8 2WD and AWD models will be announced soon. Deliveries of the AWD variant are scheduled to begin in July 2025, with the 2WD version following thereafter.
