Malaysian Fuel Prices (August 6–12, 2026): Unsubsidised RON95, RON97, and Diesel Drop 5 Sen

The Ministry of Finance has announced the latest retail fuel prices for the week of August 6 to August 12, 2026. After a period of price hikes, Malaysian motorists will see some relief this week as unsubsidised prices for RON95, RON97, and diesel have all been reduced by five sen per litre.

The price reduction comes following a downward trend in petroleum prices toward the end of the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) calculation period, despite Brent crude oil trading above US$90 a barrel earlier in the week.

Unsubsidised Fuel Prices

For non-eligible buyers purchasing fuel at market rates, the new pump prices are as follows:

Fuel TypeNew Price (per litre)Previous PriceDifference
RON97RM4.35RM4.40– 5 sen
RON95 (Unsubsidised)RM3.77RM3.82– 5 sen
Diesel (Unsubsidised)RM4.57RM4.62– 5 sen

Subsidised Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged

The Madani government continues to shield eligible households and businesses from global market volatility through targeted subsidy programs. All subsidised fuel rates remain completely unchanged for the upcoming week:

  • BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95): RM1.99 per litre
  • BUDI MADANI Diesel: RM2.10 per litre
  • Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS): RM2.05 per litre
  • Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS): RM2.15 per litre

Eligible Malaysian citizens can continue purchasing their allocated quotas of subsidised RON95 and diesel by verifying their MyKad at the pump.

Global Market Volatility

In its official statement, the Ministry of Finance noted that the global oil market remains highly volatile due to ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, particularly the shifting dynamics of peace efforts in conflict zones. Global supply chains remain vulnerable to potential disruptions along crucial shipping and maritime routes, such as the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz.

The government warned that as long as these regional conflicts remain unresolved, petroleum product prices will continue to experience fluctuations on the global market. In light of these pressures, the ministry has urged the public to practice prudent fuel consumption by planning journeys efficiently and reducing unnecessary travel to help ease the burden on national subsidy spending.
