2027 Honda Accord e:HEV Updated in Japan: Cleaner Looks, Same Solid Hybrid

Honda has officially rolled out a minor update for the 2027 Honda Accord in its home market of Japan. While the D-segment sedan market might be shrinking globally, the Accord remains a highly important flagship model for the Japanese automaker.

Instead of a heavy mid-cycle facelift or major mechanical overhaul, Honda has kept this update deliberately light. The focus for the 2027 model year is purely on a visual clean-up to give the sedan a more premium, upscale presence on the road.

Subtle Exterior Refinements

If you look closely at the new 2027 model, the most noticeable differences are along the lower half of the vehicle. Honda has ditched the rugged-looking black plastic trims in favor of a more cohesive, body-colored finish.

Here are the key cosmetic changes for the Japanese market:

  • Body-Colored Garnishes: The black lower body trim on the front, sides, and rear has been replaced with body-color garnishes for a cleaner, more refined look.
  • Lighting Tweaks: The headlamp design features revised internal detailing.
  • Clear Side Markers: Honda swapped out the old side markers for clear ones to elevate the exterior’s premium feel.
  • Higher-Spec Upgrades: Range-topping models finished in Canyon River Blue Metallic receive a body-colored front grille and a matching shark-fin antenna, whereas other paint choices pair these elements with black.

Powertrain: If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

Under the hood, everything remains completely unchanged. The 2027 Accord continues to be powered by Honda’s highly efficient e:HEV two-motor hybrid system.

Honda has made zero mechanical modifications to the internal combustion engine or the electric motors. Efficiency remains the central appeal of this D-segment cruiser, with Honda quoting an impressive fuel economy figure of 23.8 km/L under Japan’s WLTC testing cycle. Rather than chasing aggressive performance figures, the Accord e:HEV prioritizes smooth power delivery, predictability, and low fuel consumption for daily driving.

Tech and Japanese Pricing

On the technology front, the higher-spec versions in Japan retain the advanced Honda SENSING 360+ driver-assistance suite. This system utilizes an expanded array of cameras and sensors to enhance surrounding awareness, provide better lane support, and offer superior highway driving assistance.

In terms of pricing, the updated 2027 Honda Accord starts at approximately ¥5.599 million in Japan. For buyers opting for the range-topping grade equipped with Honda SENSING 360+, the price kicks off at ¥6,351,400 (which includes Japan’s 10 percent consumption tax).
