A McLaren F1 once owned by the Sultan of Brunei is set to go under the hammer through RM Sotheby’s this December in Abu Dhabi. This car is chassis number 14, one of only 64 road-going McLaren F1s ever built, and part of the rare collection originally kept in the Brunei royal garage.
Unique History and Rebuild
Originally finished in Titanium Yellow with a black interior, the car underwent a full rebuild in 2007. Today, it features a plain white exterior paired with black OZ Racing centre-locking wheels and has been upgraded with the High-Downforce Kit (HDK). The interior was also reconfigured to LM-spec, making it even more special among the limited F1 lineup.
Rarity and Value
This particular chassis is the last of only eight McLaren F1s to receive the HDK treatment. With 13,711 miles on the odometer, it combines rarity with a fascinating provenance. Experts estimate the car could fetch around US$21 million at auction, reaffirming the McLaren F1’s reputation as one of the most desirable supercars in the world.
