Suzuki Teases Arrival of e-VITARA in Malaysia

Suzuki Cars Malaysia has sparked excitement among local auto enthusiasts by teasing the arrival of the e-VITARA, marking the brand’s first foray into electric mobility. This latest reveal follows closely on the heels of a recent campaign introducing the new Fronx, further signaling Suzuki’s growing momentum in the Malaysian market. According to reports, the e-VITARA is expected to launch in global markets later this year, hinting that a local arrival might be closer than many anticipate.

Suzuki’s First Mass-Produced Electric Vehicle

First unveiled in November 2024 as Suzuki’s inaugural mass-produced battery electric vehicle, the e-VITARA made its global debut in Europe. This production model stems from the earlier eVX concept and embodies a strategic collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota. Engineered on the new “Heartect-e” platform—specifically designed for electric vehicles—the e-VITARA showcases Suzuki’s commitment to both innovation and efficiency.

Battery Options and Powertrain

Global configurations of the e-VITARA offer a choice of two lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery capacities. The base option features a 49 kWh pack with single-motor front-wheel drive producing 144 PS and 189 Nm of torque, delivering approximately 342 km in WLTP range. A larger 61 kWh version increases output to 174 PS while maintaining the same torque, extending the range to 424 km. The top-tier variant introduces Suzuki’s “ALLGRIP-e” dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with 184 PS and 300 Nm, equipped with a “Trail Mode” for light off-road use.

Dimensions and Charging Capability

As a compact B-segment crossover, the e-VITARA measures 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It supports DC fast charging from 10 % to 80 % in about 45 minutes, while AC charging via an 11 kW setup completes a full recharge in approximately 5.5 hours.

Interior and Technology

The cabin design blends ruggedness with modern technology. It features a horizontal dashboard layout, anchored by a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ensuring a balance of practicality and digital sophistication.

Launch Timing in Malaysia

Timing could be crucial for Suzuki’s EV entry into Malaysia. The government’s current import tax exemption for fully imported EVs ends on December 31, 2025. Launching the e-VITARA before this date would allow it to benefit from incentives that could make pricing more competitive. While Suzuki Cars Malaysia has not confirmed an exact launch date, distributor Naza Eastern Motors has acknowledged the teaser and suggested the model could be introduced soon.

Expected Market Introduction

Insider updates indicate that the Fronx SUV will debut in Malaysia by the fourth quarter of 2025, while the e-VITARA is expected to follow in 2026. This timeline positions the electric crossover as Suzuki’s landmark entry into Malaysia’s EV market.

Conclusion

The e-VITARA represents a major step for Suzuki, blending competitive range, versatile performance, and modern design into a package that could appeal strongly to Malaysian buyers. As Suzuki’s first electric SUV, its introduction will mark the beginning of the brand’s electric journey in the region and could shape its future presence in sustainable mobility.
