PROTON X50 Gets a Bold New Identity

PROTON has officially previewed the All-New PROTON X50 to Malaysian media ahead of its highly anticipated launch, marking a major milestone for the national automaker in 2025. Since its original debut in October 2020, the X50 has sold over 134,000 units, dominating its segment for five consecutive years. The latest generation SUV arrives with a bold new design, upgraded technologies, and groundbreaking features, including the nation’s first Bahasa Melayu voice recognition system.

Refined Exterior and Premium Interior Appeal

The All-New X50 showcases a modernised aesthetic with a reworked front grille and bumper, quad exhaust tailpipes, a sporty rear spoiler, and striking dual-tone colour options. New textured alloy wheels complete the look. Inside, the vehicle now boasts a more luxurious, driver-focused layout, incorporating soft-touch materials, a floating floor console, column shifters inspired by luxury vehicles, and a 72-colour ambient lighting system. Customers can now choose a new signature colour—Teal Bayou Green—alongside familiar favourites like Snow White and Passion Red.

Smart Cabin Technology with Local Flavour

Technology takes centre stage in the X50’s cabin, headlined by a large 14.6-inch infotainment screen supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Most notably, the vehicle becomes the first in Malaysia to feature voice recognition in Bahasa Melayu, catering directly to local drivers. The upgraded PROTON Link 2.0 app extends usability, allowing remote engine start, air-conditioning activation, real-time vehicle status monitoring, and service scheduling—all accessible through a mobile phone.

Next-Level Safety and Driving Assistance

On the safety front, the All-New X50 continues to raise the bar with improved Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), now enhanced with a Rear Side Radar System. Additional features include a refined Auto Park Assist system, a 360-degree HD camera with a 180-degree undercarriage transparent view, and column shifters for added luxury. Supported by a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, the SUV aims to deliver both intelligence and peace of mind behind the wheel.

Boosted Performance with Improved Efficiency

Under the hood, the All-New X50 is powered by a new i-GT 1.5 TD engine, producing 133 kW and 290 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a responsive 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 7.6 seconds—0.3 seconds quicker than the previous model. Fuel efficiency sees a 4.7% improvement, offering enhanced performance without compromising economy.

Setting a New Benchmark in the Segment

Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of PROTON Edar, expressed confidence in the new model’s impact, stating that the All-New X50 is set to exceed expectations by blending advanced technology, dynamic performance, and stylish design. He believes the SUV will appeal to a wide range of customers, from small families and first-time buyers to tech-savvy professionals looking for an engaging and connected driving experience.

More to Come Ahead of Official Launch

Ahead of the launch, PROTON will host a series of public events across the country to showcase the All-New X50’s capabilities and begin collecting early bookings. Interested buyers are encouraged to visit PROTON’s official website or follow Proton Cars Official on social media for updates, promotions, and interactive experiences.
