OMODA | JAECOO Backs Eco-Friendly Duathlon

POWERMAN Malaysia 2025 returned in spectacular fashion to mark its 20th anniversary as the world’s largest duathlon event, with OMODA | JAECOO as the event’s title partner. Hosted at Dataran Putrajaya from June 20 to 22, 2025, the iconic three-day event transformed Malaysia’s federal administrative capital into a vibrant arena of endurance, sportsmanship, and unity.

Record-Breaking Participation from Around the World

This landmark edition of POWERMAN Malaysia attracted over 4,500 participants representing 30 countries, making it the largest turnout in the event’s history. Athletes competed in two main categories: Classic distance (10km run, 60km bike, 10km run) and Short distance (5km run, 30km bike, 5km run), along with three POWERKIDS races for children aged 6 to 15. A heartwarming highlight was the participation of 20 special needs children from the local BikeIsAble initiative. With support from their caregivers and families, these inspiring young athletes crossed the finish line using specially modified strollers, embodying the true spirit of inclusivity, determination, and community.

Opening Ceremony with Dignitaries and a Green Mobility Symbol

The event was officially flagged off by YBhg Dato’ TPr. Fadlun Bin Mak Ujud, President of Perbadanan Putrajaya, and Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia. The JAECOO J7 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) served as the official lead car for the races, symbolizing the fusion of high-performance sports and sustainable mobility.

International Champions Dominate Classic Categories

Filipino athlete Raymund Torio emerged victorious in the Classic Men’s Open category with an impressive finishing time of 2:50:59. In the Women’s Open Classic, Malaysia’s own Esther Joy Chen claimed the top spot with a commendable time of 3:11:40, highlighting the competitiveness and global caliber of participants.

A Legacy of Growth and Global Recognition

Jeffrey Ross, General Manager and Race Director of POWERMAN Malaysia, emphasized the significance of this milestone. From a modest start in 2002 with only 200 participants, POWERMAN Malaysia has grown into a globally acclaimed event. This year, the event welcomed 40% first-time participants from across the globe, showcasing its expanding international appeal. Ross acknowledged the crucial role of OMODA | JAECOO in supporting the event’s bold vision and continued evolution as a platform for unity, athleticism, and global community.

OMODA | JAECOO’s Commitment to Empowering Sports Communities

Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia, praised the extraordinary achievements of both POWERMAN and POWERKIDS athletes. She noted that participants, regardless of age or background, demonstrated remarkable endurance over the challenging duathlon course. Lek also reiterated the brand’s commitment to elevating sports communities and pushing physical and mental boundaries through continuous collaboration with events like POWERMAN.

More Than a Race: A Lifestyle Festival for All

In addition to the thrilling races, a vibrant three-day expo added further excitement, featuring 50 exhibitors from local and international lifestyle brands. Among the notable names were Kahf, a premium halal men’s care brand, as well as 100PLUS, Shimano, and PURPOSE Performance Wear. The expo offered visitors a chance to explore the latest in health, wellness, and sporting gear, transforming the event into a holistic festival of active living.

Malaysia’s Role as a Global Duathlon Powerhouse

Managed by Fresh Events Asia Sdn Bhd and based in Kuala Lumpur, POWERMAN Malaysia has successfully hosted 19 prior editions and proudly retains its title as the World’s Largest Duathlon. Since 2013, the company has been a leading force in organizing high-quality mass participation events across Southeast Asia, reinforcing Malaysia’s status as a central hub for world-class endurance sports.

The Future of Mobility with OMODA | JAECOO

OMODA | JAECOO envisions a forward-thinking automotive lifestyle through its “O-UNIVERSE” concept, blending innovation, sustainability, and aspirational living. OMODA targets the LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) generation with stylish, personalized mobility, while JAECOO caters to urban elites and adventure enthusiasts with refined off-road capabilities.
