First Batch of 300 Hyundai Stargazer Units Arrives in Malaysia Ahead of Imminent Launch – Style, Prime, and X Variants Confirmed

Hyundai Motor Malaysia has taken delivery of the first shipment of 300 units of the Hyundai Stargazer compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on domestic shores, entering the final operational phase ahead of an official commercial rollout scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

  • Hyundai Motor Malaysia confirms the local arrival of an initial 300-unit allocation of the Stargazer MPV ahead of its imminent market launch.
  • The domestic lineup encompasses three distinct variants: the baseline Style, the premium-tier Prime, and the rugged, crossover-styled Stargazer X.
  • All variants are powered by a 1.5-litre Smartstream naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), generating 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque.

The arrival follows preview showings conducted across nationwide roadshows earlier this year, positioning the three-row MPV into direct competition within Malaysia’s B-segment family carrier market alongside established entries including the Perodua Alza, Toyota Veloz, and Mitsubishi Xpander.

Under the bonnet, all three variants utilize Hyundai’s Smartstream G1.5 multipoint-injection (MPI) four-cylinder petrol engine. The naturally aspirated unit develops 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels via an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), which employs a heavy-duty chain-belt mechanism rather than a traditional steel push-belt to minimize transmission slip, simulate stepped gear shifts, and maximize fuel efficiency across urban commute cycles.

Visually, the standard Stargazer adopts a futuristic one-box aerodynamic profile inspired by the larger Staria:

  • Front & Lighting Design: A slim, full-width horizontal LED daytime running light bar spans the bonnet shut-line, sitting above a rectangular radiator grille flanked by vertical low-set headlamp clusters.
  • Rear Architecture: The rear tailgate features distinct vertical lamp clusters joined by a full-width illuminated light bar forming a prominent “H-signature” visual graphic.
  • Stargazer X Crossover Elements: The Stargazer X variant adds raised suspension ride height, protective matte-black wheel arch cladding, redesigned front and rear bumpers with faux silver skid plates, integrated roof rails, and dedicated 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin is arranged in a versatile three-row layout capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. Cabin equipment is centered around a digital instrument display seamlessly integrated into the dashboard fascia, accompanied by an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Higher-tier variants are equipped with leatherette upholstery, ambient interior lighting, multiple USB charging ports across all three rows, and the Hyundai SmartSense active driver assistance system (ADAS), incorporating Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA).

With the initial 300 units dispatched through national logistics hubs to establish dealer floor stock and demonstration fleets, official pricing structures and full specification matrices will be unveiled at the model’s impending media launch.
