KUALA LUMPUR, 26 August 2026 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has announced plans to deploy a cumulative total of 350 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the North-South Expressway (NSE) and East Coast Expressway 2 (ECE2 / LPT2) networks by the end of 2028. The initiative forms part of Phase II of the highway concessionaire’s green infrastructure roadmap, supporting the national Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
Network Expansion and Operational Overview
The planned deployment expands highway charging coverage across Peninsular Malaysia’s primary transit corridors, addressing intercity range assurance for electric vehicle drivers.

“Charge and Chill” Pilot Concept
To address holiday peak demand and mitigate charging bay queues at high-traffic Rest and Service Areas (R&Rs), PLUS is rolling out a pilot initiative designated as “Charge and Chill”:
- Integrated Retail and Amenities: Integrates rapid EV charging infrastructure directly with curated food and beverage (F&B) outlets and expanded seating spaces.
- Congestion Mitigation: Designed to encourage structured rest breaks while vehicles replenish charge, preventing gridlock in main service area parking lots.
- Mega Hub Integration: Complements dedicated large-scale projects, such as the upcoming solar-ready Seremban Southbound EV Hub developed in partnership with Yinson GreenTech (operating under the joint venture Terra ChargEV), which features 20 DC charging bays alongside dedicated duplex F&B retail units and separate non-EV parking.
Digital Monitoring and Real-Time Telemetry
Highway users are advised to leverage digital platforms to monitor charger availability and plan travel schedules:
- PLUS Mobile Application: Features real-time charger operational status and occupancy tracking at participating R&Rs and lay-bys along the expressway.
- CPO Platform Interoperability: Drivers can track active sessions, verify power delivery, and process payments directly via individual operator applications, including Gentari Go, JomCharge, and chargEV.
