The Dongfeng Voyah Dream 9 luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) will officially enter the Malaysian market in the first quarter of 2027, offered in both pure battery-electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configurations under local distributor Volt Auto Malaysia.
- Volt Auto Malaysia confirms a Q1 2027 commercial introduction for the Voyah Dream 9 flagship MPV, arriving initially as a completely built-up (CBU) import before shifting to local assembly (CKD).
- Dual-powertrain offering comprises a dual-motor BEV with a 120 kWh battery (575 km WLTP) and a 555 kW (755 PS) 1.5L Turbo PHEV with a 65 kWh battery (246 km WLTP pure electric range).
- Both variants feature an 800-volt high-voltage architecture with 5C fast-charging capability (20–80% in 12 minutes), active rear-axle steering up to 10 degrees, and Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 autonomous driving hardware.
The Voyah Dream 9 represents the direct successor to the previous Voyah Dream, which was previewed locally at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) following its global debut at Auto China in Beijing. To establish an exclusive brand identity, Volt Auto confirmed that Voyah will operate through dedicated standalone retail and service facilities across Malaysia, keeping its premium sales operations completely distinct from the primary Dongfeng brand.

Dimensions and Exterior Design

The Dream 9 expands slightly over its predecessor, measuring 5,325 mm in length (+10 mm), 1,998 mm in width (+18 mm), and 1,805 mm in height (-15 mm), while maintaining an expansive 3,200 mm wheelbase. The exterior design is dominated by an imposing front fascia featuring a cascading “Dragon Scale” chrome grille, accented by an illuminated retractable hood ornament. Up front, visual illumination and road projection are directed by intelligent Huawei Xpixel projection headlamps capable of displaying dynamic safety symbols on the road surface.
Powertrain and Charging Capabilities

Both powertrain formats are built upon a native 800V electrical platform:
- Battery Electric (BEV): Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system combining a 175 kW (238 PS) front motor with a 300 kW (408 PS) rear drive unit. Energy is supplied by a 120 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 701 km under the CLTC test cycle (approximately 575 km WLTP).
- Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV): Pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol combustion engine with twin electric drive motors to produce a combined output of 555 kW (755 PS). Utilizing a large 65 kWh battery pack, it offers an electric-only driving range of 300 km CLTC (approximately 246 km WLTP). Volt Auto projects local commercial demand will favor the PHEV variant due to its combined cross-country flexibility.
- 5C Charging Rates: Both models accommodate high-power 5C DC charging rates, allowing a 20% to 80% battery recharge in 12 minutes on compatible high-output DC charging networks.
Chassis Engineering and Dynamics
The MPV is constructed on Voyah’s proprietary “Huju P” modular architecture, utilising a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension design. Torsional control and ride refinement are managed via three-chamber air suspension units featuring four adjustable spring-rate settings and dual-valve continuous damping control. Maneuverability in constrained urban spaces is aided by an active rear-wheel steering system providing up to 10 degrees of steering angle, significantly reducing the turning radius for a vehicle exceeding 5.3 metres in length.
Cabin Appointments and Autonomous Hardware

Inside, the Dream 9 is arranged in an ultra-luxurious three-row layout. Second-row occupants are provided with individual “aviation-grade” captain chairs equipped with electric ottoman supports, comprehensive massage functions, and a swivel mechanism allowing the seats to rotate 180 degrees to face the third row in a conference-style seating arrangement. Cabin amenities include an integrated beverage cooling and heating refrigerator, ceiling-mounted motorized folding entertainment displays, and smart adaptive electrochromic dimming glass for the second and third rows.
Active safety is managed by the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system configured for Level 3 autonomous capability. The hardware array incorporates 37 high-precision sensing components, consisting of an 896-line roof-mounted primary lidar unit, three solid-state side-perimeter lidars, high-definition optical cameras, and millimeter-wave radars.
The Voyah Dream 9 will arrive in Malaysian showrooms during the opening quarter of 2027 as an initial CBU import batch to satisfy early customer orders, with local CKD manufacturing preparations progressing in parallel to transition the flagship MPV into domestic assembly thereafter.
