Following a recent stretch of consecutive price drops, Malaysian motorists will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets this week. The Finance Ministry has announced its latest weekly fuel price update for August 20 to 26, 2026, confirming price hikes across all unsubsidised petrol and diesel categories.

Petrol Prices See Upward Adjustment
Petrol users will feel the pinch this week as unsubsidised RON 95 petrol climbs by 15 sen, bringing the retail price to RM3.77 per litre, up from RM3.62 per litre last week. Those who pump premium RON 97 petrol will also face a hike of 10 sen, bringing the new price to RM4.25 per litre from RM4.15.
However, everyday drivers qualifying for the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) scheme are shielded from these market fluctuations. The heavily subsidised rate remains locked at RM1.99 per litre. To qualify, Malaysians must hold a valid driving licence, and the subsidy is currently subject to a temporarily adjusted monthly quota of 200 litres per user.
Significant Hike for Unsubsidised Diesel
Commercial and private diesel vehicles operating without subsidies will see the steepest increases this week. The price of unsubsidised B10 and B15 diesel surges by 20 sen to RM4.67 per litre. Consequently, the Euro 5 B7 blend—which always maintains a 20-sen premium over standard diesel—will jump to RM4.87 per litre.
Fortunately, eligible Malaysian citizens and approved commercial operators continue to benefit from the targeted diesel subsidy implemented on July 1. For these users, the subsidised B10 and B15 diesel rate remains steady at RM2.10 per litre nationwide, limited to a shared 200-litre monthly quota alongside the Budi95 program.
Implementation Details
These revised fuel prices will officially take effect starting at midnight tonight and will remain active until 11:59 PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, when the Finance Ministry will issue the next weekly update.
This announcement marks the 35th edition of the weekly fuel pricing format for the year 2026, and the 398th overall adjustment since the weekly floating mechanism was first introduced at the start of 2019.
