Volkswagen Golf GTI Sepang Edition — RM263k, 7 Years Free Maintenance, 5 Years Roadside Assistance

There’s something magnetic about the word Sepang. For Malaysians, it means more than a race track — it’s speed, pride, and national identity. Now, that spirit returns. Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has launched the Golf GTI Sepang Edition, a model that brings the soul of Sepang International Circuit (SIC) to Malaysian roads.

This is not just another variant. It marks the first-ever collaboration between Volkswagen Malaysia and SIC, making it the first car in Malaysia with the official Sepang emblem. Priced from RM262,990, it comes with seven years of free maintenance, a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, and five years of roadside assistance. To celebrate, Volkswagen is offering a 10.10 promotion0% interest for 10 months for the first ten units.

🏁 A Tribute to Malaysian Motorsport Heritage

Since 1999, Sepang Circuit has stood as Malaysia’s temple of speed. It hosted legendary Formula 1 and MotoGP races that shaped our motorsport history. The Golf GTI Sepang Edition honours that legacy by turning race-day adrenaline into a daily driving experience.

Volkswagen describes it as “Sepang spirit, engineered into an icon.” Built locally, the car balances track aggression and everyday practicality. It bridges the roar of the grandstand with the rhythm of daily traffic — perfect for drivers who still crave that Sepang rush.

⚡ Exclusive Sepang Design Elements

This GTI doesn’t just perform — it looks the part. Every detail pays tribute to the track that inspired it. You’ll notice the ‘Sepang Edition’ emblem on the rear, matching logos on the B-pillars and door sills, and a gloss black roof wrap.

The front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, and mirror caps are all finished in black. A sporty side graphic adds a racing feel. It rides on 18-inch Gunmetal Matte Grey Richmond alloy wheels with dynamic GTI hub caps and GTI valve caps.

Inside, you’ll find GTI floor mats, VW Tint, and a collector’s key box with a certificate of authenticity. The car also includes a Universal Traffic Recorder 2.0 dashcam system with Sony Starvis night vision sensors. Two bold paint options — Atlantic Blue and King’s Red — complete its striking look. Its similar to Volkswagen Golf GTI Black Edition that we reviewed here.

🧠 Advanced Technology and Connectivity

Inside the cabin, the Sepang Edition feels modern and intuitive. It features a 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with built-in navigation and a 10-inch Digital Cockpit display. Drivers can control most functions through Hello Volkswagen voice control, keeping their hands where they belong — on the wheel.

It supports Wireless App-Connect® for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Bluetooth allows dual-device pairing, while USB-C ports in front and back handle charging duties. The Harman Kardon 8+1 speaker setup delivers crisp, rich sound.

There’s also wireless phone charging, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and a head-up display that projects key data onto the windscreen. Together, these features make the car as smart as it is fast.

🏎 Engineered with Sepang Spirit

Under the bonnet, the Golf GTI Sepang Edition packs the proven 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine. It delivers 245 PS between 5,000 and 6,200 rpm, and 370 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,300 rpm. Power goes to the front wheels through a 7-speed wet dual-clutch DSG gearbox for lightning-fast shifts.

Its Vehicle Dynamics Manager and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) adjust the suspension in real time for sharper handling. The front differential lock, progressive steering, and driving mode selection keep the GTI playful yet precise.

Despite its punch, the car remains efficient at around 7.0L/100km. The start/stop function and regenerative braking further improve fuel economy.

Physically, the car measures 4,287 mm long, 1,789 mm wide, and 1,444 mm tall, with a 2,631 mm wheelbase. The boot holds 1,230 litres, enough for luggage or track gear. A 50-litre fuel tank ensures solid range for long-distance drives.

🧩 Comfort for Everyday Use

The GTI Sepang Edition blends sportiness with comfort. The front sport seats are trimmed in Vienna leather and feature active cooling plus electric driver adjustment with lumbar support. A three-zone automatic climate control system keeps everyone comfortable, regardless of the weather.

Other thoughtful touches include ambient lighting with five themes, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and automatic headlights and wipers. You also get keyless entry with push-start, rear armrest with cupholders, and foldable rear seats.

Even the luggage light doubles as a flashlight, a small but clever detail that proves Volkswagen’s attention to practicality.

🛡 Safety and IQ.DRIVE

Safety takes center stage with Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE system. It combines Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist to deliver semi-autonomous support when needed.

The car includes seven airbags — front, side, curtain, and center — along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (ASR), and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL). It also features Driver Alert fatigue detection, an automatic post-collision braking system, and an anti-theft alarm with towing protection.

For families, the GTI comes with ISOFIX anchor points compatible with i-Size child seats. Combined with a rigid body and advanced brakes, it offers confidence in any driving situation.

🇲🇾 A Hot Hatch That Carries Malaysian Pride

Every Golf GTI Sepang Edition includes seven years of free maintenance, five years of unlimited mileage warranty, and five years of roadside assistance under the Volkswagen Assurance Package.

More than just a car, it’s a statement of national pride — a collector’s piece built to celebrate Malaysia’s motorsport history. The Golf GTI Sepang Edition isn’t only born for the track — it’s built for Malaysia.
