New Era of Driving: OMODA | JAECOO Launches in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 August 2025 — Reflecting the growing awareness and interest in New Energy Vehicles (NEV) and electric powertrains, OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has officially launched the inaugural OMODA | JAECOO Carnival at Desa ParkCity.

The four-day event serves as the brand’s first lifestyle and technology showcase in Malaysia, highlighting its commitment to educating consumers on the advantages of hybrid mobility.

A Celebration of Innovation and Appreciation
Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia, stated, “The OMODA | JAECOO Carnival brings together our complete line-up of vehicles. More importantly, it demonstrates performance and innovation at every level, designed with the specific goal of delivering extraordinary capability and pioneering advancements in the segment. At this event, we are unveiling two upcoming models—the J5, our Everyday Hero, and the C9 PHEV, Built with Leading Power—both expected to capture the hearts of Malaysian customers.”

She added that the carnival is also a way to thank loyal customers for their unwavering support while welcoming new buyers to the brand’s world of attainable luxury. At the same time, it aims to educate the public about the benefits of next-generation NEV technology.

SHS Experience Lab: Exploring the Super Hybrid System

The main attraction of the carnival is the SHS Experience Lab, an interactive space where visitors can learn about the Super Hybrid System (SHS). Through interactive displays, guided presentations, and hands-on exhibits, the lab showcases SHS’s ability to combine intelligent energy efficiency, high performance, and eco-friendly driving.

The SHS powertrain will be the backbone of OMODA | JAECOO’s future models, offering seamless switching between petrol and electric power to ensure optimal balance between efficiency and performance in real-world driving conditions.

Introducing the JAECOO J5: The Everyday Hero
The carnival also marks the official preview of the JAECOO J5, a B-segment compact crossover designed to bring affordable luxury to new buyers. Measuring 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall with a 2,620 mm wheelbase, the J5 combines a bold stance with everyday practicality and premium comfort. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55 R18 tires for both stability and style.

Under the hood, the J5 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 147 PS and 210 Nm of torque. Paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the engine features advanced integrated intercooling and an innovative exhaust manifold design, delivering smooth efficiency and a fuel consumption of 7.5 liters/100 km (WLTC).

Inside, the J5 offers a refined five-seat cabin finished in full leatherette upholstery, a spacious 480-liter boot expandable to 1,180 liters, and TÜV-certified pet-friendly design. Connectivity is enhanced with a 13.2-inch 2K central touchscreen with WiFi, an 8-inch LCD instrument cluster, and an 8-speaker sound system. The class-leading panoramic moonroof adds openness and natural light, while safety is reinforced with Level 2.5 ADAS and OMODA | JAECOO’s signature 540-degree HD Surround View Camera system.

Introducing the OMODA C9 PHEV: Built with Leading Power

The public also got its first look at the OMODA C9 PHEV, the most powerful model from OMODA | JAECOO to date. This luxury coupe SUV is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine combined with three electric motors, delivering up to 605 PS and 915 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

Equipped with a 34.46 kWh LFP battery, the C9 PHEV offers a pure EV range of up to 150 km and a total driving range of around 1,100 km. Charging options include 70 kW DC fast charging as well as 6.6 kW and 2.8 kW AC charging. Its advanced three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) ensures both power and smoothness, while combined fuel consumption is rated at just 1.7 liters/100 km (WLTC).

For driving comfort, the C9 PHEV is fitted with a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension system capable of adjusting up to 100 times per second, with seven custom driving modes for road and off-road conditions. Luxurious features include side-projection lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and premium interior refinement that blends power with sophistication.

Carnival Highlights Beyond Cars
Visitors to the carnival can also explore the full OMODA | JAECOO line-up, test drive selected models such as the popular J7 and flagship J8, and enjoy a vibrant lifestyle atmosphere. The event offers diverse food and beverage options, a children’s play zone, an open dining area, and the PingMing Market—a cultural bazaar featuring artisanal crafts, local delicacies, and handmade goods.

The OMODA | JAECOO Carnival runs from 21 to 24 August 2025 at Car Park 3, Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur. Open daily from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, with test drives available until 7:00 pm. More information is available at www.omodajaecoo.com.my.
