Chery Reveals Super Hybrid System and New SUVs

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 JULY 2025 – Chery Malaysia has marked a significant advancement in sustainable mobility with the introduction of its innovative Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology. This breakthrough represents a major step in the company’s commitment to delivering smart, efficient and eco-conscious transportation solutions for Malaysian drivers.

A New Benchmark in Hybrid Technology

Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia, emphasized the brand’s dedication to innovation during the launch event. “Our Super Hybrid platform combines the benefits of electric driving with extended range capability, all while maintaining the performance standards that define the Chery brand,” Chew explained.

The Chery Super Hybrid system establishes a new standard in New Energy Vehicle technology by integrating the best features of hybrid and fully electric powertrains. The heart of this system is a remarkably efficient 1.5L Turbocharged Dedicated Hybrid Engine that achieves an industry-leading 44.5% thermal efficiency.

When combined with its high-performance electric motor, the powertrain delivers an impressive 255 kW of power and 525 Nm of torque, ensuring responsive performance in all driving conditions.

Introducing the Next Generation of PHEVs

The event showcased two exciting new additions to Chery’s lineup: the Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH and Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH. These plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are designed to accommodate diverse driving needs, from daily urban commutes to extended road trips.

The vehicles feature an advanced Stepless Super Hybrid DHT transmission that provides seamless power delivery with exceptional 98.5% mechanical efficiency.

Their high-capacity Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries meet stringent IP68 standards for protection against dust and water ingress, while also demonstrating remarkable durability in extreme temperatures up to 95°C. The fast-charging capability allows drivers to replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes.

Complementing these features is the comprehensive Guardian Battery Safety Protection System that ensures reliable operation in all conditions. With an outstanding combined range of 1,200 km, these vehicles effectively eliminate range anxiety while optimizing fuel efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.

Rigorous Global Safety Validation

Chery has implemented an exhaustive testing program called the Global Safety Challenge to verify the robustness of its Super Hybrid technology under extreme conditions worldwide. This comprehensive evaluation includes:

In China, the vehicles underwent severe crash testing including spiral rollovers, high-speed collisions, a demanding 7-car stack test, and a dramatic 4.9-meter vertical drop assessment.

The Indonesian phase focused on tropical environment durability with an intensive 53-hour seawater immersion test. The upcoming Mexican trials will evaluate performance in challenging high-altitude terrain.

These extensive tests demonstrate Chery’s unwavering commitment to producing vehicles that deliver not only exceptional performance but also uncompromising safety and reliability in real-world driving scenarios.

Expanding Chery’s Electric Vehicle Portfolio

The introduction of the Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV follows closely on the heels of the Tiggo Cross Hybrid CSH launch earlier this month, significantly expanding Chery’s electrified vehicle offerings in Malaysia.

“Chery now provides a complete spectrum of powertrain options to suit every driver’s needs, ranging from conventional gasoline models to full electric vehicles, hybrids, and now plug-in hybrids,” Chew added.

With these technological advancements, Chery Malaysia is positioned to make a substantial impact in the local PHEV market, offering consumers innovative, efficient and sustainable mobility solutions that address the evolving demands of modern transportation.
