RM2.2 Mil AMG Beast Hits Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially introduced the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance, marking the debut of the most powerful SL model to date. This plug-in hybrid roadster combines cutting-edge performance with luxurious design, setting a new benchmark in the SL lineup.

Powertrain and Performance

At the heart of the SL 63 S E Performance lies a formidable 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with an AMG Electric Drive Unit. This combination delivers a staggering total output of 816 horsepower and a peak torque of up to 1,420 Nm.

Power is transmitted to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and managed by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission. This setup propels the roadster from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 317 km/h .

Hybrid Technology and Electric Range

The SL 63 S E Performance is equipped with a 6.1 kWh AMG High-Performance battery, inspired by Formula 1 hybrid technology. This battery provides an electric-only driving range of up to 13 km, suitable for short urban commutes. Charging is facilitated by a 3.7 kW on-board AC charger, ensuring convenient replenishment of electric power .

Chassis and Handling

To complement its powerful drivetrain, the SL 63 S E Performance features the AMG Active Ride Control suspension system with active roll stabilization and active rear-axle steering. These technologies work in tandem to provide exceptional handling dynamics and ride comfort. The braking system comprises high-performance ceramic composite brakes, offering superior stopping power and durability .

Exterior Design and Aerodynamics

Visually, the SL 63 S E Performance distinguishes itself with subtle yet purposeful design elements. These include an integrated charging port, grooved trapezoidal twin tailpipe trims, and 20-inch matt black multi-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels.

Aerodynamic enhancements feature an active front spoiler that extends by 40 mm at speeds above 80 km/h, creating a Venturi effect to reduce front-end lift. Additionally, an active rear spoiler adjusts through five angular positions to optimize downforce and stability .

Interior and Features

Inside, the SL 63 S E Performance offers a 2+2 seating configuration, with front AMG sports seats that are electrically adjustable and available in Nappa leather with Microcut microfibre accents. The cabin is equipped with the latest MBUX multimedia system, featuring AMG and hybrid-specific displays and functions. Optional features include AMG performance seats with integrated headrests, ventilation openings, and massage functions, enhancing both comfort and support for spirited driving .

Availability and Pricing

The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance is now available in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM2.2 million. This model represents the pinnacle of the SL series, combining unparalleled performance with advanced hybrid technology and luxurious appointments.
