KUALA LUMPUR, 5 August 2026 — Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has provided two units of the Nissan Kicks e-Power to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for a two-month Proof of Concept (PoC) evaluation programme without purchasing obligation. The vehicles will undergo field testing during active patrol operations to evaluate their performance, fuel efficiency, and operational suitability for law enforcement duties.
Vehicle Configuration and Powertrain Details
The evaluation aims to gather operational data on the vehicle’s capability across standard police duty cycles.
The Nissan Kicks e-Power relies on a series-hybrid powertrain layout:
- Drive Mechanism: Wheels are driven exclusively by an electric motor.
- Power Generation: A petrol engine functions solely as a generator to supply electrical power to the vehicle’s battery, eliminating the requirement for external charging infrastructure.
