The Audi RS 7 is often regarded as one of the most striking and powerful super sedans on the road, a car whose elegant yet aggressive styling is hard to fault. Yet DarwinPro Aero has managed to spark controversy with its latest creation, the so-called Aero Edition, which Autoevolution describes as a case study in how to ruin a perfectly fine RS 7.
Over-the-Top Design Choices
DarwinPro Aero’s modifications push the RS 7’s design well past subtlety. While some individual upgrades might not seem outrageous on their own, the combination of all these elements results in visual excess. The fender flares, which could have added muscular appeal, are overshadowed by additional modifications like a transparent hood with side vents, an aggressive front splitter, and extended side skirts that clutter the car’s profile.
A Cluttered Profile
The side view is further disrupted by trim add-ons and the RS 7 name boldly displayed across the lower doors. At the back, the oversized wing dominates the liftback silhouette, giving the car a flamboyant appearance that many purists will find unnecessary. Even the diffuser, equipped with an extra brake light and slats, struggles to bring balance to the otherwise chaotic design.
Color Scheme and Branding
The Aero Edition’s gray finish, contrasted with black and carbon fiber inserts, adds to its busy aesthetic. RS 7 logos scattered across the car emphasize branding rather than refinement. DarwinPro Aero itself describes the car on social media as “pure passion on wheels” and “built by enthusiasts for enthusiasts,” though the tone of Autoevolution’s coverage suggests skepticism toward those claims.
Performance Remains Stock
Interestingly, despite its dramatic appearance, the DarwinPro Aero Edition does not appear to include any performance upgrades. The RS 7 Performance’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 continues to deliver 621 brake horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0–60 mph time of just 3.3 seconds. The base price for a 2026 Audi RS 7 Performance sits around $137,700, making it a luxury performance model even without aftermarket tuning.
A Question of Taste
The Aero Edition ultimately raises an age-old question among car enthusiasts: should a car as well-designed as the Audi RS 7 be left to shine in its factory form, or is there merit in turning it into an attention-grabbing statement piece? DarwinPro Aero has provided one answer—though not everyone will agree it’s the right one.
