Open-Air Thrill: Bugatti Mistral in Action

An Exclusive Glimpse Behind the Wheel
Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac recently gave fans and car enthusiasts a rare and intimate look at what it’s like to drive the W16 Mistral—the latest open-top hypercar from the legendary marque. In a video shared online,

Rimac takes viewers on a high-speed journey, showcasing the sheer power and elegance of the Mistral from behind the wheel. The sound of the engine, the wind through the open cockpit, and the seamless acceleration all come together to create a sensory experience that few vehicles in the world can match.

A Blend of Luxury and Performance

The Bugatti Mistral is not just another hypercar—it is the pinnacle of performance wrapped in timeless luxury. Powered by Bugatti’s iconic 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Mistral delivers an awe-inspiring 1,600 horsepower.

This immense power allows it to reach a staggering top speed of 282 mph (453.91 km/h), earning its place as the fastest open-top production car ever built. But it’s not all about speed; the Mistral is engineered to offer a refined and stable ride, even at such extreme velocities.

Design That Turns Heads

True to Bugatti’s legacy, the Mistral’s design is as groundbreaking as its engineering. The front features striking diagonal LED lighting elements that give it an unmistakable presence, while the rear lights form two sleek arrows that draw attention to the illuminated Bugatti badge. Inside, the Mistral pays tribute to Bugatti’s rich heritage with luxurious materials and intricate details.

One standout feature is the gear lever, which houses a miniature sculpture of the famous “Dancing Elephant,” created by Rembrandt Bugatti, brother of founder Ettore Bugatti. Every aspect of the design reflects both function and artistry.

Limited Production, End of an Era

With only 99 units slated for production, the Mistral is a highly exclusive offering. It’s not merely a convertible Chiron; it’s a unique model that represents the final chapter of Bugatti’s legendary W16 engine era. This final run of combustion-powered hypercars marks a turning point as the company moves toward hybrid and electric performance in future models. Each Mistral will be a collector’s item, representing the last breath of a mechanical masterpiece.

Experience the Mistral Through Mate Rimac’s Eyes

Rimac’s video isn’t just a promotional piece—it’s an authentic driver’s perspective that captures the thrill of piloting a car engineered to push the boundaries of what’s possible. From the sharp responsiveness of the throttle to the roar of the quad-turbo engine and the immersive sensation of open-air driving, the footage gives viewers a taste of the Mistral’s personality: bold, powerful, and refined. It’s a reminder that Bugatti doesn’t just build cars—it creates experiences.
