Smart #5 Launched in Malaysia — RM199,800, 590KM WLTP Range, 8 Year Warranty

Petaling Jaya, 14 November 2025 – smart Malaysia has officially launched its boldest electric SUV yet, the all-new smart #5, and the biggest headline is clear: a starting price of just RM199,800.

In a segment where mid-size EV SUVs often exceed RM300k, smart flips the script. It offers a spacious, premium, Mercedes-influenced D-segment EV at a price point usually reserved for smaller crossovers. For those seeking maximum power and BRABUS flair, the smart #5 BRABUS comes in at RM249,800, delivering dual-motor all-wheel drive, a 3.8-second 0–100 km/h sprint, and exclusive design upgrades. Even so, it remains well below the price of most high-performance EV rivals. These prices are valid for the first 300 registered owners, making the smart #5 one of the most aggressively priced EV launches of the year.

A D-Segment EV Under RM200k? Yes, Really.

At RM199,800, the smart #5 Premium brings features usually reserved for much higher price brackets. It has a 100kWh battery — the largest ever in a smart — which delivers up to 590km of WLTP-rated range. In addition, its 800V fast-charging architecture allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. Owners also benefit from 22kW AC and 400kW DC charging.

The Premium variant is rear-wheel drive and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Inside, the SUV impresses with a 2,900mm wheelbase and 1,530L of rear cargo space, creating a spacious environment for daily commutes or weekend getaways. Technology is equally advanced, with dual 13-inch OLED displays, a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display, and a SENNHEISER 20-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system. Safety is comprehensive. The smart #5 earned a Euro NCAP 5-Star rating, reinforced chassis rigidity, and a full suite of driver assistance systems.

BRABUS at RM249,800 — Performance Meets Value

The smart #5 BRABUS takes performance to the next level. It features dual-motor all-wheel drive, Launch Mode, and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Inside, Dinamica seats offer comfort while red brake calipers and 21-inch BRABUS Monoblock Z wheels complete its aggressive styling. Furthermore, the BRABUS sound experience adds a signature audio signature, creating a high-performance feel without the premium price tag.

Premium Ownership Comes Standard

smart Malaysia also introduces All-Inclusive Premium Ownership. This package ensures worry-free ownership with an eight-year, 200,000km high-voltage battery warranty and an eight-year, 150,000km high-voltage component warranty. Additionally, owners enjoy a four-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and a two-year unlimited mileage spare parts warranty. The package also includes 24/7 roadside assistance, a complimentary Wallbox charger, a Vehicle-to-Load adaptor, a RM2,000 accessories package, and three years of internet data, totaling 108GB.

A Pricing Strategy Set to Disrupt the Market

By combining big battery capacity, spacious interiors, advanced technology, and impressive performance at a starting price under RM200k, the smart #5 challenges expectations. The RM199,800 Premium variant and RM249,800 BRABUS make it the best-value mid-size electric SUV in Malaysia for 2025. Buyers can visit authorized smart dealerships or book and personalise their smart #5 through the Hello smart App on Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei App Gallery.
