Volvo Padel Open 2025 Sets New Record in Malaysia

After six weekends of thrilling padel action, the Volvo Padel Open 2025 concluded on 27 July with record-breaking numbers. The event saw a total of 416 players, making it the largest and most inclusive padel tournament in Malaysia to date. Impressively, 160 participants were first-time competitors, showcasing the sport’s growing popularity across the country.

Skill Assessment and Coaching Clinics for Newcomers

To ensure fair play and proper categorisation, players in the Beginner and Intermediate categories underwent mandatory skill assessments by certified coaches. Volvo Car Malaysia also sponsored free coaching clinics to help these new players prepare for their qualifying rounds. This inclusive approach encouraged participation from players of all skill levels.

Three Venues and Strong Sponsorship Support

The event was held across three premier padel venues in the Klang Valley—Joy Division Padel, Padelground, and PadelKu. The tournament was supported by several partners, including Coca-Cola Malaysia, Tactical Padel, Directors’ ThinkTank, and REGEN Physio & Sports Rehab, further boosting the event’s reach and prestige.

Grand Prizes and Volvo Experience

Participants competed for a prize pool exceeding RM 180,000, which included cash rewards, padel merchandise, racquets, court time, and a special seven-day driving experience in a fully electric Volvo car. The attractive rewards added excitement and prestige to the competition, especially for first-time participants.

Champions Across All Categories

Twelve winners emerged from a highly competitive Grand Final. Omar Abd Aziz and Khairil bin Anuar won in Beginner Men, while Ng Suhan and Nadia Syafiq claimed the Beginner Women’s title. In Intermediate categories, Leong Kit Kuan and Nicholas Low Wei Loong took home the men’s trophy, while Florence Song Oon Hui and Raad Mukhtar Hamud triumphed in Mixed. The Advanced categories saw victories for Aidan Khairuddin Yunus and Andreas Falk Bjerrehu (Men) and Sharifah Elysia binti Wan Abdul Rahman and Christian Didier Chin Zao Quan (Mixed).

A Community‑Driven Sporting Event

The Finals drew a passionate crowd and created an electric atmosphere. Families, fans, and competitors came together to celebrate both the competition and the spirit of community. The event served not just as a sports tournament, but as a platform to bring people together through shared passion and healthy competition.

Volvo’s Commitment to Inclusivity and Wellness

Patricia Yaw, Marketing Operations and PR Director at Volvo Car Malaysia, emphasized the values at the heart of the event. She said, “Padel and Volvo grow hand in hand, both standing for inclusivity, wellness, and connection.” Her remarks highlighted how the tournament aligns with Volvo’s broader brand values, beyond just athletic performance.

Promoting Padel as a Lifestyle

More than a competition, the Volvo Padel Open reflected a lifestyle movement where sports, community, and wellness intersect. The event’s success this year is expected to spark even greater enthusiasm and growth in Malaysia’s padel scene.
