Proton’s electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, has firmly secured its position as Malaysia’s best-selling EV for the first half of 2025. With a total of 4,003 units delivered between January and June, the model has maintained its lead for six consecutive months and now commands a significant 23.4% share of the EV market. This success is attributed to steady growth, fair pricing, and strong consumer trust.
Growing Market Presence and Export Expansion

Beyond its domestic achievements, the e.MAS 7 has also made strides internationally, with 250 units exported to selected markets, including a recent entry into Trinidad and Tobago. This expansion showcases Proton’s efforts to broaden its global footprint in the EV sector.
Stable Pricing and Strong Customer Confidence

Proton’s strategy of maintaining consistent pricing across all e.MAS 7 variants has strengthened the model’s appeal as a practical and value-driven choice for everyday use. This pricing policy has been instrumental in fostering long-term customer confidence without depending on discounts. PRO-NET CEO Mr. Zhang Qiang credited the overwhelming market response to the brand’s commitment to value and trust, underscoring that their growth is rooted in sustainable customer relationships.
Commitment to Sustainable Development

Ahead of the model’s public debut, Proton invested heavily in ensuring the e.MAS 7 met local expectations and contributed to national sustainability goals. More than 700,000 manhours were spent on engineering and validation, complemented by over 100,000 kilometres of real-world testing. The focus was to fine-tune the vehicle for Malaysian road and weather conditions, aligning with the country’s aim to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
Building a Nationwide EV Dealership Network
To support the launch, PRO-NET began developing its EV dealership infrastructure in early 2024. A total of 35 outlets, each receiving over RM2 million in investment, now operate with modern facilities, EV-specific service bays, and DC fast-charging stations. These developments have also created more than 700 jobs, underlining Proton’s contribution to local economic growth and skills development. Additional dealer support comes through launch assistance, investment incentives, and performance recognition programmes.
Expanding Charging Infrastructure Across Malaysia

PRO-NET’s efforts to promote EV adoption include broadening its collaboration with multiple charging point operators. Its Live Integrated Charging Map now supports over 3,300 charging points nationwide, with over 1,100 chargers already operational in 390 high-rise residences. The initiative began in 2022 following an MoU with Gentari and now includes ten charging partners, such as Shell Recharge, JomCharge, and Charge N Go, among others.
Workforce Growth and Organisational Strengthening
From a small team at its founding in 2022, PRO-NET has evolved into a structured organisation supporting EV retail, technical operations, sales, marketing, and infrastructure development. This growth has underpinned the successful rollout and continued momentum of the e.MAS 7, establishing Proton as a major player in Malaysia’s EV transformation.
Trade-In Programme Encourages EV Transition
To further drive electric mobility, PRO-NET introduced the Power Exchange programme. This initiative offers a trade-in bonus of RM5,000 for any vehicle, regardless of brand or age, upon approval. It makes transitioning to zero-emission driving more accessible to a wider group of Malaysians.
