Top Seller in Hong Kong and Singapore
BYD has emerged as the best-selling automotive brand in both Hong Kong and Singapore during the first six months of 2025. In Hong Kong, the brand sold 4,909 vehicles, while in Singapore, it delivered 4,667 units. This achievement marked BYD as the overall market leader in both regions, surpassing traditional and electric competitors.
Massive Growth in Thailand Backed by Local Factory

Thailand saw BYD deliver 24,072 new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing a 64.1% year-on-year increase. BYD’s dominance placed it almost four times ahead of its nearest rival, MG. This performance was supported by the opening of BYD’s wholly owned factory in Thailand in July 2024, which has a capacity of 150,000 vehicles annually.
Impressive Lead in Indonesia

Indonesia became another success story for BYD, with 14,092 vehicles sold. Including Denza, BYD’s luxury sub-brand which contributed 5,733 units, the group reached 19,825 vehicles sold in total—placing it well ahead of Chinese competitor Chery.
European Expansion: Leading in Spain and Italy
In Europe, BYD led NEV sales in Spain with 10,196 units, beating Tesla’s 7,166 deliveries. The brand also excelled in Italy, delivering 9,517 vehicles, outperforming both BMW and Tesla. These results highlight BYD’s increasing influence in Western Europe’s electric vehicle sector.
Record Sales in Brazil
Brazil stood out as BYD’s largest overseas market in this period, with 47,107 units delivered. This strong performance marked Brazil as one of the company’s most promising growth regions.
Global Sales Milestone and Export Plans
Globally, BYD sold 2,145,954 vehicles in the first half of 2025, securing its position as the world’s top EV manufacturer by volume. To support its rising global presence, BYD is developing a fleet of eight car-carrier ships, each with the capacity to transport between 7,000 and 9,200 vehicles.
Vision for 2030 and Overseas Expansion
BYD has a strategic goal to generate 50% of its total vehicle sales from overseas markets by 2030. The company is aggressively expanding across Southeast Asia, Europe, South America, and the Middle East. Additionally, it is investing in international manufacturing plants in Hungary, Turkey, Thailand, and Uzbekistan to support its growing footprint.
